GI Knows The Truth About Assassin's Creed

by Joe Juba on Dec 17, 2009 at 12:31 PM

If you've pieced together "The Truth" in Assassin's Creed II, you probably have more questions than answers about what's really going on with Desmond and his ancestors. Game Informer's executive editor Andrew Reiner shared his theories, and according to Assassin's Creed II writer Corey May, he might not be far off the mark.

In his blog post (spoiler-filled, by the way), Reiner goes out a limb about aliens, the end of the world, and the probable setting for Assassin's Creed III.

"You've got some of it right," May responds in the comments. "Can't say much more except there are answers to your questions. It's just a matter of when you'll get them. But at least know that we know!"

At least gamers can rest assured that, unlike meandering TV shows like Lost and Heroes (are they just making it up as they go?), the team members behind the Assassin's Creed franchise have a solid idea of where their story is going.

Of course, now the task becomes sorting out which of Reiner's assertions are valid, and which ones belong in crackpot fan fiction. What do you think are the most likely contenders to become a legit part of Assassin's Creed lore?
