Call Of Duty Dominates Xbox Live Activity; Xbox 360 Renamed COD BOX

According to Major Nelson's blog, Call of Duty occupied three out of the top four slots for Xbox Live activity during the second week of December. It's no surprise that Modern Warfare 2 is the number one game being played right now, but the fact that World at War and the first Modern Warfare are still in the top five shows us why EA decided to go Single White Female on Activision. Of course, it should come to no surprise that Halo 3 is the game that spoiled Call of Duty's attempt at securing the top three slots. Even with ODST in the wild, gamers apparently cannot say goodbye to Master Chief just yet. And to summarize the remainder of the list, more people would rather kill zombies than stab popes, and football is better than football.

  • I'm just happy to see Assassin's Creed II on that list.

  • More reasons to grab a copy of these games.

  • Don't be nervous talking to girls? Really? C'mon guys, you're making us look pathetic! =p

  • So wait, 6/10 (7/10 if you count GTAIV) are shooter games, and are played the most on XBL? I'm just surprised that MvC2 and Super Street Fighter II HD Remix didn't make the list of XBLA games or that BlazBlue nor Street Fighter IV also did not make the cut. I guess I have to be more with the times...

  • Well I have given up for the most part on MW2 most of the games I go into are bugged with unlimited ammo, or No kill cap,  unkillable people, or some other crazy hacked crap. It isn't even fun any more. But at least there is always Borderlands.

  • @Sakabata24

Unforunately they didn't make alot of copies of Blazblue (It's hard to keep that game in stock and no used copies) The only send us at gamestop like 2-3 copies every once in a while it's kinda like a shin megami secnario.

I bet at least 1/2 the people on MW2 online are under the age of 13

  • Of course it's dominating Live activity...everyone on Live is finding new ways to hack or glitch the damned game! LOL

  • Staff

I wish Bishop was kidding. So true.

  • no suprise there

  • That's predictable. But where's Borderlands?

  • Modern Warfare 2 is one kick ass game! It's no doubt it's on this list. I'm still surprised that halo 3 is still being played a lot...

  • I can't belive halo 3 is still up there. It's just stupid to play that more than any call of duty game (execpt co-op campaign)

  • Everybody seems to forgot that all those people who bought Halo 3: ODST got that second disc with halo 3's multiplayer on it. When you put the disc in, it says your playing Halo 3, not Halo 3: ODST. So a good portion of those people are people who are using the ODST disc, just playing the multiplayer part.

  • Who is suprised by this announcement? certainly not I.

  • Halo 3, look at that.  Just goes to show how much fun it is to play that game online.  Personally I have been hittin up MW2 recently but I am a bit disappointed that there are no online achievements other than with Spec Ops.  I understand that not everyone can play this online but who bought it with the intent of never playing it online?  C'mon now!

  • Just wait till Bioshock 2 comes out. That is gonna be some kick ass online multiplayer.

  • Wait, Assassin's Creed 2 has online? Never knew.

  • COD BOX? Really? Wow, too glitchy for me right now =/
