Medal Of Honor Footage Shows Modern Warfare In Action

EA surprised many when they announced a relaunch of the Medal of Honor brand earlier this month, blatantly taking on Activision’s behemoth Call of Duty franchise by infiltrating the modern warfare genre.  Set within the sands of Afghanistan, Medal of Honor focuses on a small task force that operatea under the radar, hoping to pay homage to the real “living, breathing, precision instruments of war,” according to Greg Goodrich, Medal of Honor’s executive producer.

Medal of Honor made its video debut during this weekend’s VGA festivities – but we’ve got the footage in case you were indisposed. Check it out below.

After watching the trailer, what do you think? Does EA’s franchise have what it takes to contend with Call of Duty?

Comments
  • certainly looks cool.  i'll give them that much.

  • It looks like a pretty solid game.

  • Medal of Honor is back. I like how both sides are going to stay in modern day. EA had to do this or risk being totally lost in the market. Now I just hope the next Call of Duty game will be set in the Korean War. A conflict that no one has attempted to touch.

  • I think Medal of Honor can play with Call of Duty. This game looks awesome so far.

  • okay this looks pretty sick. iv always thought medal of honor was the closest competition to call of duty

  • Medal of Honor started all, It looks good, the graphics are beautiful, and it seems there is a lot of action, I played all of medal of honor games, and i will buy it on first day no matter what, i know for sure the gameplay is going to be awesome. I hope the story is good enough and not SHORT like MW. We have to see how the multiplayer is going to be, thats what we are ALL waiting for. LETS SEE IF MEDAL OF HONOR CAN TAKE BACK WHAT CALL OF DUTY TOOK FROM THEM, AND BE THE KING OF THE HILL AGAIN.

  • It will be better than MW2.

  • Looks reminiscent of Battlefield and Modern Warfare if they had a child.  It could be different, but I can't say at the moment.  We'll see, I suppose...

  • Though the game looks graphically awesome, they're going to have to do some serious work to make it in the same world with Modern Warfare

  • My first game for the PS2 was Medal of Honor Frontline and I loved it! I hope this game shares the same fate

  • yep im gonna be that guy:

looks like a mw2 rip off.

  • It looks exactly like Modern Warfare.

    It'll sell millions.

  • Definitely looks slick. The game will live or die on its gunplay and its multiplayer (I have not always loved the feeling of aiming in DICE console games).

  • Looks like a good rent.  Multiplayer is my pivot point for a purchase.  Let's see that.

  • Looks ok. Hearing that DICE is doing the MP gives me hope.

  • i saw Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in that trailer, too.

joking aside i hope it's good. i'll be buying day one once i get to see some more gameplay footage and details especially the multiplayer.

  • I have to wonder about this. With now Medal of Honor in present day and Battlefield in present day it could create some competition. However the games are quite different. MoH in the vein of CoD will be more arcade style fast action, while Battlfield will be the closer to a sim with huge epic warfare.

I like all three franchises yet Battlefield is tops for me. It will be nice to see MoH make a comeback. The last one I played was European Assault which was near impossible to beat on the last level.

  • Also to add to the DICE conversation they are mainly a PC developer. They have gotten better at adapting controls to the console.

  • At first glance I wasn't sure about this, but after this video it seems clear Medal of Honor series might still have some juice left. As for competing with Modern Warfare, I just hope they don't go Multiplayer too much with it. Medal of Honor is always about great single player and I hope thats where it stays. Besides even if it does have a good Multiplayer as well, it will be called a knockoff just because its similar to something else (though a war game taking place in modern time is a vague similarity). I think trying to do something like MW would just lead to a dead end, they need to stick to their own thing.

  • I like how this article advertises MW in the title... prolly should've worded that differently.
