The lights are on
Sega has announced that it’s bringing Yakuza 3 over to Europe and the United States this March. The news was revealed on Europe’s official PlayStation Blog. The PlayStation 3 exclusive has already sold more than 500,000 copies in Japan.Gary Knight, Sega of Europe’s marketing director, says the move was at least partially due to fan interest. “Yakuza 3 was one of the most requested titles for localisation by our European SEGA community, so we are delighted to be able to fulfil their wishes with this announcement. As well as delving even further into the rich narrative of the Yakuza universe, the development team have pushed the PlayStation 3 hardware to the limits to produce a beautiful and startlingly realistic depiction of the Japanese underworld.”
Finally, something to look forward to in Q1 2010.

Finally!
Hopefully, they also give it some marketing so it gets the sales it deserves.
"Finally, something to look forward to in Q1 2010."
I would hope that's sarcasm... :-P
Greatness, finally Sega doing the right thing!
All we need now is a release of Yakuza 1 and 2 in HD just like the God of war collection! :)
"Finally, something to look forward to in Q1 2010." HA!!!
Yeah, I haven't heard ANYTHING good about the first two games. I never played them but I heard they were not good
Was the second one ever released in the US?
This just made my day. I loved Yakuza and Yakuza 2.
good news for the U.S.
im actually thinking about getting this now seeing as to how great the reviews have been.
Will it have 1 and 2 included or anything? Since I hear they are integral to the story? I never had time to play them on PS2, even though I owned them at one point.
This made my day!
This is great news, I have played the previous ones and was hoping that this one would come out in the states. It's a great series and hopefully this does well so that Yakuza 4 comes out next yr too.
For those who are interested in this game:
It is necessary to play through the first 2 games in order to get a feel of the personalities of each character. Story-wise, you can always look into the internet.
Personally I like the series a lot, though I admit it has unique story and might not be the taste of the gaming majority. Realistic Japanese gang culture blend with outrageous story and fighting style (the main character indeed has killed 2 tigers at once in Yakuza 2, with bare hands!!!)
Awesome idea finally coming to fruition.
@gobzer
