The lights are on
Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be a sweeping RPG of epic proportions, and it looks like it's so big that the Xbox 360/PC title will be available on two discs.
Here's what BioWare community coordinator Chris Priestley has to say about the two discs in the game's forum:
1 - Yes, there are 2 game discs for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions, both the Collector's and standard editions.2 - There is a 3rd disc with the Collector's Edition. This is a movie DVD containing making of and other bonus information.3 - The PC version is a standard install. You install the information from both discs and then play with 1 disc in the drive. No swapping.4 - The Xbox 360 does not have an install and does require disc swapping during play.5 - Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done.6 - Why 2 discs? Answer: Because you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc.
A game going to two discs always makes gamers take notice, but has having to swap discs ever made anyone think twice?

Anybody who refuses to play a game because they have to switch discs is just plain lazy. This news gets me even more pumped for the sequel. Which reminds me, I still need to play #1...
Back in '03 I had this revolutionary idea to put the next GTA game on two discs, thinking "twice the discs= twice the information! Yeeeaaaaahhh!" I made the mistake of bringing it up in the forums where everybody made fun of how stupid it sounded. Well I guess I showed them!
Now I expect this game to be even more awesome than I thought it was before.
TOO AWESOME FOR ONE DISC?
THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO NOT USE BLU RAY DISCS.
IT DOES NOT AFFECT MY PURCHASE, I LOVED RE4 ON THE GAMECUBE :)
No Ma2 for ps3? aww shucks..
It doesn't bother me at all, it just means more gameplay to me.
i'm a bit upset that i have to disc swap. however, this will in no way hinder my decision to get this game. in fact, i want it more since if they needed 2 disc we can expect a MASSIVE galaxy to explore. good job Bioware! and only $10 extra for the CE?! best CE price since the Master Assassin Edition
Vote 4 Pedro, you have GOT to play the first! It's awesome and the classes are amazing. I've beaten it so many times, with so many different profiles, beaten the DLC; there's so much to this game. You must play it!
I don't care much about disc swapping though. Anyone who played the Ps1 versions of FF sure didn't have any problems. In fact, we swapped discs in heavy anticipation for the story's next development...
I'm glad that they decided to do two discs...
Although the two disc thing should've happened for Dragon Age.
Maybe then the sound wouldn't be so awful, and the graphics might be comparable to the pc version.
Hooray for Mass Effect 2!!!
Maybe they could just make it on the PS3 and put all of the information on to 1 bluray disc....
I'll be picking it up for my 360 though
Let excitement reign, the longer this title is the better. I know Bioware is more than equipped enough to make the story strong the entire way through.
Bother me? nope. But I am curious to know if it would fit on a ps3 disk (bluray) or not? If possible to have this game on the ps3 that would be awesome but somehow I think they would still put two disks to keep the image of xbox 360 untarnished... lol
Not me, i had no problem switching games for Resident Evil:Code Veronica for dreamcast, and Parasite Eve for Ps1. BOTH Great games i might add!
i have a feeling that even with 2 discs it'll still have a "to be continued" type ending.
not me. if it means a longer more thourthly made game. bring it. i loved lost odessy and it had 4 disks.
They had this in Resident Evil 4 and that game obviously still did alright but it's still annoying
Game swap = more content, longer game, and more fun.
Nothing wrong with giving the people what they want. :)
First party 360 games are going to need to continue going on multiple disks if they're going to have as much information as some recent PS3 titles like Uncharted 2 and MGS4. Glad to see Microsoft is staying on the ball with that.
Now im really pumped for this game. I loved Mass Effect and now that know its on 2 discs which means that its going to be a long game or have lots of content to keep us playing and enjoying this awesome game and getting our 60 bucks worth. People saying MAN ITS ON 2 DISCS ***, its only ONE more discs, its beat having 4 like in some games, plus it kinda gives you a mini break so rest you eyes for a few seconds before you start playing again.
