The lights are on
ArenaNet sends along this teaser video (below) for its upcoming MMO Guild Wars 2. The trailer doesn't show any gameplay details, but the artistry on display is impressive. The five races – stalwart humans, monstrous Charr, bear-morphing Norn, crafty Asura, and mystical Sylvari – will struggle together against the malefic elder dragons that threaten all civilization. Guild Wars 2 will incorporate the franchise's iconic level-playing-field PvP, but the kind of factional warfare found in World of Warcraft or Aion will not exist. Open-world PvP will be available in an area called the Mists, though ArenaNet has not given any details on how the Mists work or their connection to the regular world.Guild Wars 2 will feature a genre-standard persistent world, a significant change from its heavily instanced predecessor. ArenaNet has also talked up the game's extensive underwater exploration and fast-paced, accessible design. No release date has yet been announced for Guild Wars 2. The game was revealed two years ago, though, so hopefully more info will drop soon.

Looks pretty, and interesting, however I doubt ill be spending any time with this game.
pretty good, pretty good.
Is the stream on this vid really slow or is it just me? I've got a pretty fast connection too...
Anyway, this looks amazing. I'm sold. Love the Charr.
The soundtrack to the Charr's monologue was WAY too much like the Orcs of Isengaard theme in LOTR The Two Towers though.
Watching this made me think of how the traditional archetypes we covet (especially those in fatastical settings) take on different names and forms but never stray too far from their origins.
GW1 was really well done to begin with and I expect that AreaNet makes the second even better. The fact that it's free to play is all that much more appealing. They've learned a lot from the GW community over the years. It's a shame other companies don't take those lessons and apply them.
Well, I was a big fan of the first game. I played it for a long time before the content ran out and I moved on to greener pastures. It was a really enjoyable game while I was playing it, but it doesn't have the power to hook me anymore.
Anyway, this trailer shows a lot that kind of excites me. The gameplay looks pretty interesting. I know we didn't get to see a player playing, but we saw what combat will look like, and I think the spells look pretty sweet. And the game itself is just beautiful. Then again, I've fallen into the trap of buying a pretty game before (Aion) and it just wasn't that fun.
At any rate, this game looks like it could be pretty good, and I've got a history with A-Net and GuildWars, so I'm likely to pick up a copy and give it a shot -- unless, of course, I can get it on the open beta and experience it first-hand.
It looks beautiful...
Game looks good. What the hell was wrong with the stream. Was having major issues.
sum hot npc action going on in the first pick
I thought Guild Wars 1 was awesome. I hope this turns out even better!
looks cool, but i'll pass
I've been holding off on buying a new laptop until I find out the specs needed to play this game. Hopefully by the time GW2 releases, the hardware will be cheaper than it is now.
This looks absolutely amazing. I'm a huge GW Fan, and I've clocked well...too many hours into GW. I've been waiting for GW2 and more stuff on the classes and this just hooked me. I can't wait to play it.
And @ MrFlashBax
The GW2 team has already stated the specs won't be much more than the first GW game, so I wouldn't worry much about it.
those are some man-hating looking chicks
*** NCsoft stop making other mmo and try finishing this one I want it bad...
Ugh, i just bought the first one! Oh well, at least i don't have any Monthly Fees to worry about, this game looks great.
game looks amazing. been playing it for 2 and a ahlf years(gw1) Ppl who say: looks cool, but i'll pass, you dont know what your missing
cant wait =)
Yay
If this game can play with no subscription fees, I will go to the NCSoft offices and bow to them. It looks great either way, it would be worth fees, I would definitely be a Norn.
I was looking forward to playing a race other than humans, but unfortunately, none of those look very interesting to me. Either I'll change my mind before the game releases, or I'll pick the one that disappoints me the least.
