The lights are on
At this point we imagine many of you have heard enough about Dante’s Inferno that you just want to get your hands on the game. Well you’re in luck. On December 10 EA will release a free demo for the PlayStation Network that includes the entire first level of the game.
Unfortunately, Xbox owners will have to wait until their grandparents are visiting on Christmas Eve (this year, it's December 24) before the demo hits Xbox Live. Do you think that’s fair? Or, in an age with fewer and fewer system exclusives, is this just another good way for console companies to get a leg up on the competition?
Email the author Ben Reeves, or follow on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and Game Informer.
PS3 also got the Battlefield: BC2 beta. I say, good for the PS3. I don't really think it's going to give anyone the high-ground. It's just a demo. Gamers should be used to waiting by now.
This is stupid. I own both consoles but would much ratherp lay this game on 360. What exactly is the point of releasing the demo 14 days after the PS3 demo? Is the PS3 doing so bad that it needs a two-week head start over the 360?
Though it's good that the PS3 gets a leg up on the competition, I want the demo now, not later... :-(
Sony is starting to get a push on sales, and I'm happy to see it go this way. If you're really a hardcore then you probably have both systems, despite how much you dislike either company, give it up and support video games in general.
Good. It seems like the 360 is always getting something before the PS3 is. As someone who owns both consoles and prefers the PS3 I'm happy about this.
No to the first one, yes to the second. Actually all I care about is that the PS3 demo is coming out on my birthday!
ah how we love you ps3 lol.
I think that it is fair. Microsoft has been doing the same thing all year.
i'm a PS360 owner so i don't have to wait! marking Dec. 10th on calender now!
Really? Christmas Eve has been moved?
I don't think non-exclusive demos really affect console sales. Sure, the PS3 version comes out first, but the XBOX 360 version comes out anyway. Demos help you decide if you want to buy the game or not. It has a considerably smaller effect on which console you'll buy it. Ultimately, gamers will buy it for the system which they believe to be superior.
Thats gay as aids. Whats the point?
As someone who owns both systems, this won't affect me much. Alls fair in love and war, but I don't think it will get either system a leg up. Personally, i'm glad exclusives are going away. More games to more people is more money made and more good games (hopefully) coming in the future.
@xHitman88x:
"gay as aids"? really? hahaha
But seriously, regardless of which system you prefer, let's hope for a quality game. I'm really curious how they adapted the Divine Comedy to this medium.
yes!!!
yea i think its fair, i LOVE my ps3
but i dont think it will give them an advantage...
Well, everything at the beginning was for Xbox, now PS3 owners (like me) are going to have some fun, too.
its not that big of a deal. its a FREE demo. eventually, everybody will be able to play it (if they choose) before the game comes out.
Its just a demo... a really cool looking demo, but still nothing more. As a Xbox360 user I have no problem waiting a few more days for it to come out. I mean, there are more than enough really good games to play this winter. I also don't think such a thing gives one console a leg up on another.
Considering how much stuff that the 360 has ninja'd I don't even feel like this is setting things even. Especially when it's a game I don't care about.
Looking forward to trying it.
Oh, and lulz demo exclusivity. Stupidest thing of all-time.
I just think that they should just release the demo for both systems at the same time. I think it is stupid they way they are doing it now.
