One Million New Last.fm Profiles Created Since Xbox Update

It appears that the new social media-centric Xbox update has done wonders for online music service Last.fm. Ever since its inclusion on the 360's dashboard, there have been almost a million new profiles created on the site and users have streamed more than 120 million minutes worth of music. In addition, almost two million Facebook users logged into their profile via their gaming console for the first time. Zune's functionality is doing similarly well, with 1.7 million Xbox owners checking out the service in its first week. It seems that this fall's update has seen some solid initial success. How about you, have you been using your 360 to check Facebook photos, send tweets, watch Zune video, or stream Last.fm stations?

  • wow i never even heard of last.fm

  • Well that was expected.

  • I'm assuming that most people had never heard of it and just said "what the hell" since it was coming to Live anyway.

  • I don't really need the watered down versions of Twitter and Facebook, but I do enjoy having access to my last.fm stations on my Xbox.

  • i have not heard of it

  • That is good that a lot of Social Networks are benifitting from this recent update.

  • im surprised but last.fm doesnt really get that much adverstising for one thing.

  • Well, ever since the update i've been using last.fm a lot. Before i didn't even know what last.fm was.

  • Not really that big. Considering about 28,000,000 people on 360s those numbers are sad. Way to fail, Microsoft.

  • I would be listening to Last.fm, but as always age restriction makes the xbox live experience much less enjoyable...

  • i pretty much use last.fm everyday but i've only used the Live service a couple of times. the photo slideshow thing they give you while a song plays is total weaksauce, and it doesn't even allow you to look at tags you've made on your account. i'm much more interested in hooking up with my friends' accounts and trade recs and stuff, but it doesn't even allow that. hopefully you'll get to listen during gameplay soon.

  • ive so far rented a movie from zune i dont like fm bc u cant use it in games and if i want 2 listen to the ozzy channel its 1 ozzy song per 30 songs..... dont twitter.... facebook i use occasionaly but sucks u cant get the live feed or use apps and i called tech support they said if u cant upload in game photos their haveng problems with it wait for an update!!

  • Well, everyone should have seen this coming.

  • last.fm is the best thing to come out of the update, i love it and hopefully they make it so you can use while your playing games.

facebook and twitter are functional but i dont care either way

  • last fm is pretty cool but if i do listen to anything while im playing i listen to my itunes

  • I am part of those millions of people.  I love that I have this stuff on my 360.

  • I have not been using my XBox for anything... because it broke. Man all they got to do is change a few screws and the thing works fine. It's not rocket science. They need to put more money into their d*mn hardware, and fix that, instead of doing all this dev work on software. They've already got the superior software, they just need a system that actually works. Just like Sony has the most solid system, they just need make the networking and interface a little better.

Heads up Microsoft, I don't need facebook on my XBox, I have it on my computer, and my iPod. You fix the broken sh*t first, then you improve on the stuff that isn't broken.

  • The site is fantastic.

It's great that Last.fm is getting more traffic too.

  • Too bad I don't have the system. I wouldn't mind having Last.fm on the PS3 if we can stream music during a SP game.

  • I had never heard of Last FM before this Xbox update. I've downloaded and used the Last FM and Zune updates. I have no desire to use Facebook or Twitter on my Xbox, so I didn't download those.
