Weekend Warrior: Thanksgiving Edition

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 26, 2009 at 04:00 AM

The holidays are upon us! While there will be mandatory family time over the course of the weekend, and the trampling of people on Black Friday, there will still be plenty of gaming going on as we stuff our faces with food. Read on to find out what we're playing over the long weekend, then head on over to the comments section and let us know what's on your Thanksgiving play list. Happy Thanksgiving!

Andy Mc: The family is coming to "Chateau Mac" this weekend, as I expect I'll be spending a fair amount of time playing games with the nephews and nieces. I hope to conquer God of War Collection and more Left 4 Dead 2 when the family passes out and I follow my normal schedule of staying up until 4 a.m. playing games.

Kato: I'm probably the only person left on Earth who hasn't gotten through Modern Warfare 2's single-player campaign, so I'm once and for all going to get through that over the break. Otherwise, I don't really plan on starting anything else new. I've got a fair amount of gaming loose ends to take care of, and I don't want to buy anything new until they are all cleared up. Although I'm a BioWare fan, for some reason I'm not that interested in Dragon Age, especially since I wouldn't be playing the PC version. Who knows, maybe I'll tackle that over Christmas break.

Nick: Grandma is coming to town! I'm going to introduce her to Modern Warfare 2. I bet she'll like it. If not, I have a backup plan with Assassin's Creed II. I'm thinking fancy outfits and such will impress, and she'll overlook the whole stabbing-people-in-the-face mechanic. I'm also going to skip right to the chase when it comes to food with five pounds of mashed potatoes. Why even bother with the rest? It's just filler! Proof: Stuffing is called stuffing. See what I mean?

Meagan: This Thanksgiving I will be split between home (husband's family) and up north (my family) for two turkey-fests. I plan on bringing my Xbox 360 up to the cabin with me, so Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead are still on the docket. I also plan on snagging New Super Mario Bros. Wii for some co-op play time with the family. Other than that, it should be a chill (and much needed) long weekend.

Jeff Akervik: Food, football, and an immense amount of Borderlands. She finally got her hooks into me this past week. Let's see what Lilith can really do. Unfortunately it seems like everyone plays this game on Xbox Live. No PS3 love out there at all?

Dan: I'll be taking a long Greyhound bus trip down to Kansas City for Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family. My dad is meeting me when I get there and we're heading to our favorite dive bar, followed by a four-day marathon of catching up with my KC friends. I'm bringing New Super Mario Bros. Wii to play with my sisters, and one of them is working on MW2 so I'll probably partake in some Spec Ops split screen.

Ben: I will be eating.

Jeff M: Screw the Pilgrims – this weekend I’ll be giving thanks for Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Dr. Ned’s Zombie Island, while filling my gaping maw with copious amounts of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pie. Throw in a little football, a little napping, and an endless string of leftover turkey sandwiches, and I can’t imagine a better holiday weekend! How do I not weight 800 pounds?!

Annette: I’m headed to Chicago for Thanksgiving! I’m definitely looking forward to spending time with family and friends. I picked up New Super Mario Bros. Wii for my nephews so we’ll probably play co-op together as I resist to keep the copy for myself. I have a tiny suitcase so my gaming is otherwise limited to portable systems. For this trip I'm riding with my PSP and a copy of GTA: Chinatown Wars.

Tim: By Thursday the final assassination mission of the first Assassin's Creed should be behind me, and perhaps I'll move on to the next (depending on how I receive the ending of the original). Besides that I plan to eat a whole lot of food, drink beverages, and play Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and maybe crack into the Ratchet and Clank series. With all the civilian-killing, zombie apocalypses, and wrist-blade executions, I feel like my brain could use a whimsical, platforming vacation. Happy Thanksgiving!

Your turn. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
