Tony Hawk Ride Sequel Already In Works

by Matthew Kato on Nov 24, 2009 at 06:09 AM

Every skater knows that the way to get over your latest faceplant is to get up and get back on your board. Despite horrible reviews, including one from our own Nick Ahrens, Tony Hawk says that he, publisher Activision, and developer Robomodo are going to soldier on with new titles in the series.

While Tony himself acknowledged himself that the series needs work in an interview with Gamespot, he misses the mark entirely as to why the game stunk so bad. "I think that there are certain ways to play the game that we could definitely improve on in a sequel," he said. "Especially the way that you transition from the vert mode to the street mode. I'm sure there's more of a seamless way to do that, but we had to separate it for this first one, just because we wanted to get it finished and get it tight." News flash to Mr. Hawk: People hated the game because the technology didn't work, not because of how the modes were structured.

Not only will the Ride series keep going – and you knew it would simply because of the investment Activision has made in that board peripheral – but Hawk revealed that the company is considering using it with other sports and titles, such as for a snowboarding game.

If developer Robomodo could just improve future games' interface with the board, we're the first to admit that we'd be all over it. Until that happens, however, Nick is going to have to be heavily medicated before he gets back on that board again.

What did you think of the game?
