What's Happening

Weekend Warrior 11/20/09

It's about that time of the week again where the GI staff starts winding down for a couple days of gaming. Read on to find out what we're playing then head on over to the comments section and let us know what games you're working on this weekend.

Andy Mc: I plan on finding out "The Truth" in Assassin's Creed II and will complete all the side missions I skipped in my sprint to the finish. After finishing Modern Warfare 2's single player campaign this week, I hope to do some SpecOps and multiplayer this weekend, as well as put in some more time with DJ Hero. Go Viks!

Reiner: Nick and I will be setting up two TVs in the same room for an entire day (probably 15 hours) of uninterrupted Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. As always, we'll kick off the day with a Buffalo Wild Wings run. Spicy garlic sauce is the key to high kill to death ratios!

Jeff Cork: As always, I have a pretty busy weekend ahead. Tonight I’m hoping to plow through the first Assassin’s Creed before digging into its sequel. This is embarrassing because 1) I never beat the first game and 2) I bought the sequel without having beaten the first game. I liked what I played, but after about the third chapter or so I started getting burnt out on the “sit on this bench and eavesdrop” missions. But tonight will be the night! I also got my racing wheel, so I’m going to drive around in circles in Forza 3 for a while as I drink adult beverages before inevitably crashing. Then it’s more Dragon Age: Origins. Ta dah!

Ben: Left 4 Dead, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, Modern Warfare 2 and Halo ODST are all begging to be played, but I haven't been able to stop myself from turning on Assassin's Creed II. Maybe I'll just give up sleep and food this weekend. Actually, since mom is coming in next week maybe I should clean. Nah, I'll just have her do it once she gets here.

Meagan: Not sure what's on my plate this weekend, but I have quite a stash of games to choose from. Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 are a must, but I've also been itching to play God of War II for some time, and need to figure out when to squeeze it in. Having too many games to play is never a bad thing. Let's just hope my 360 lasts long enough for me to polish off some of these titles. It seems to be on its last leg. Again.

Jeff Akervik: Borderlands, a little Tekken 6, Gophers hockey and some Vikings football. And I'll be curious to see if the Gophers football team can top their impressive 55-0 loss to Iowa from last year. It won't be pretty...

Tim: The first Assassin's Creed is a grind. There's no getting around it. Once I realized I have no interest in what Altair is up to in the plot, the game became a series of repetitive missions and unfair deaths. Nevertheless, I'm going to soldier through it so that I can play Assassin's Creed II, which sounds like a much better game. Beyond that, I hope for some successful Left 4 Dead 2 games, more Modern Warfare 2 multi, and maybe tracking down a few star coins in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's a good time to be a gamer.

Annette: I’m probably going to spend most of my weekend playing Modern Warfare 2 on Live with some friends from back home, but will also try to squeeze in some other titles. There are a few games on my list that I have yet to finish (something I'm not proud of, there's just so much awesomeness out there right now!) and instead of listing them here, I'll just say I'll be finishing those.

Nick: What Reiner said. Plus I'll be working more on a skateboard art project where I print one-of-a-kind skate decks with art on the for showing in a gallery.

Dan: This weekend will be dedicated to God of War Collection and Modern Warfare 2 for the most part. Started the original GOW last night and was amazed at how well it holds up almost five years later. I can't wait to get moving on GOWII. As for Modern Warfare, I'm hoping to finish the last four SpecOps missions on Veteran to grab the last two achievements I need. Then on Sunday night, I'll be playing Borderlands with the GI readers. Details here.

Jeff M: After putting it off for as long as I could, I finally broke down and bought Modern Warfare 2 this week. Monday and Tuesday night were spent playing through the campaign (and dabbling in the SpecOps missions alone), and every night since has been spent on the multiplayer battlefields. Man, this game is addictive. Unless my brother and I start L4D2 this weekend, I think I’ll be staying the course for the foreseeable future.

That's it for us. What's on your play list this weekend?

Comments
  • My hometown Comicon is this weekend and after that I plan on playing some LittleBigPlanet, DiRt 2, and I'll hopefully be picking up a copy of Assassins Creed 2.

  • My hometown Comicon is this weekend and after that I plan on playing some LittleBigPlanet, DiRt 2, and I'll hopefully be picking up a copy of Assassins Creed 2.

  • Playing AC2 and MW2 Spec-Ops.  Maybe a little Forza 3 is time permits.  Watching the Patriots beat up on the Jets on Sunday.

  • meh, being in the retail world sucks sometimes, so I will be working all weekend, hurray for me!

  • More Borderlands. Still. *** Level 50.

  • I am going to finish AC2(the ending was already spoiled for me) and play some MW2 online.

  • MW2 for me.  Finished the Campaign on Veteran (9hours 11min) which was a good step back into using a controller.  (mouse and keyboard for the last year.) Now it is playing MP until I am a Rank 70 (current rank 49).  The amount of attachments, weapon types, and perks has me drooling every time I reach a new rank, or complete one of the plethora of challenges.  Once I reach the final rank I would like to do the spec-ops. If anyone wants to play spec-ops or MP with me go ahead and add me.  Gamercard on my frontpage.  Would love to get to my L4D2 copy but MW has its claws in me...again :)

  • Assassin's Creed 2 and New Super Mario Bros Wii. I think I might just stop playing those to play some old school games and maybe do some school work. Nah! Also, I'll be writing another article for my website.

  • MW2 and Borderlands for me. Sunday night football eagles vs bears!!!

  • I'll probably try to chip a couple levels out of my LittleBigPlanet backlog (I'm still stuck in Frida's levels after nearly six months).  Once that is done...you guessed it.  More Killzone 2 multiplayer...unless it turns out Patch 3.10 is just as buggy as its two predecessors.  If so, then I'll just keep grinding thru Resistance...for the sixth time.

  • Oh...on top of that, I'll be wishing I had all the awesome new games, especially Tekken 6 (been waiting for that one for years now)

  • I plan on playing a combo of MW2 multi and Spec Ops, L4D2 and AC2. Once I get bored of those (never...) I plan on getting God of War Collection. Having never played the originals I'm sooo excited to play through them. It is a great time to be a gamer...

  • Mod

I might finish Uncharted: Drakes Fortune at long last (first playthrough believe it or not).  I'm also towards the end of Metroid Prime and Persona 3 FES so... I guess I have some options.  I'd beat 2 of them but I have to work from 11 to 8 on Saturday, and I'm not sure what plans I have for Sunday.

  • Maybe I'll play a tiny bit of New Super Mario Bros Wii, but I'll likely spend more time reading the new GI.

  • My weekend will be spent cursing my mailman and possibly making some progress on my pile of shame. The first part is because I just know he won't bring my GI tomorrow, and the second part is because it really needs to be done. Chipping away, bit by bit...

  • My nephew happened to bring over Assassin's Creed 2 for the weekend, and seeing how I finished the first no more than two weeks ago... sequel anyone?

  • NSMBW and God of War.  Maybe some Bubble Bobble too because I've been having a hankering to play it for some reason.

  • sheesh where to begin...well i have to watch "perfume:story of a murderer" with the ol' lady, but then plan on beating escape from butcher bay. so far i feel like a rat in a maze. instead of smashing foes, foes smash me. but i will probably end up getting drunk and playing secret of mana on snes.

  • Well I'll consider my weekend to be all of Thanksgiving break just for a second since I don't know whats happening when. First on my agenda is New Super Mario Bros Wii, I got my Club Nintendo Mario Hat that is too small and my Mario shirt ready to go for this one. I will beat and probably complete the game tomorrow (World 5 right now). Whenever I get to it I'll be finishing Bowser's Inside Story and Batman (just got it). Oh and I think should finish Splosion Man cause I got really close and just stopped. Any other time left will be for AC 2 and FFX. If I beat four out of those six games in nine days I will be fulfilled.

  • maybe borderlands wit dan i havent put down MW2 for a while and id like too lol
