Ubisoft Rolls Out Achievement Rewards

by Bryan Vore on Nov 18, 2009 at 06:01 AM

Starting with the recently released Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft is kicking off a new service called Uplay that, among other things, will award players with in-game items in exchange for certain achievements and trophies on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Four achievements in the game including simple tasks like “Enter the Animus 2.0” will contribute up to 100 total Uplay points, which can then be turned around into extra throwing knives, an Altaïr costume, the Auditore Family Crypt bonus map, and an AC II console theme.

Of course, you can blow it all on these rewards or save up for future Ubisoft games. In Splinter Cell Conviction things like upgrading your weapon will earn a new SCAR-H gun, multiplayer skin, multiplayer game mode, and a theme. Upcoming RTS game Ruse also has similar rewards. All games so far seem to have 100 points to earn and an equal amount of prize fees.

The service is technically in beta right now, and the reward service is part of the Uplay Win branch. Other upcoming features include social networking, help guides, and some kind of shop.
