Atlus Bringing 3D Dot Game Heroes Stateside

Masters of localization Atlus have announced that they’re the mysterious party bringing From Software’s pixilated Zelda homage 3D Dot Game Heroes to North America. The game is set for a May 11 release with a suggested retail price of $39.99. (Import copies have sold for nearly twice that amount. Ouch.)

The PlayStation 3 game features blocky characters and familiar fantasy settings, telling the story of a legendary hero, the Master sword a powerful sword and an incredible quest. Players navigate a monster-infested overworld and dungeons filled with familiar (and new) puzzles as they work to help a kingdom suffering the effects of shifting from a 2D to a 3D world. Seriously.

  • Wow this looks kinda kewl. Yet childish at the same time.

  • Mondo Cool! i'll have to get one of my PS3 Friends to get it so i can play this.

  • This looks to me like some sort of awesome cross between Cecil The Dark Knight, and Link. I'm definitely not buying it for $80, but $40 is a manageable price point and I look forward to hearing more about this as we start to approach May of next year.

  • Unique

  • That just looks plain fun. Nice art style.

  • I'll  be very tempted to buy this if it is fun. I don't give a -bleep- about graphics lately. If a game is 8-bit. Long as its good, I'll love it.

  • It reminds me of Boom Blox intertwined with Super Paper Mario and A Link To The Past, which are all great games.  Man, I wish I had a PS3...

  • Mod

    $40 suggested retail price?  SWEET!

  • Oh man, I can't wait. A friend told me about this game! :D

  • meh... i can pass.

  • This looks fun hehe....

  • This game looks different and a little fun too!

  • I imported this game awhile back and have had nothing but fun with it. Still shots don't do it justice. However, if you want to see some here's the game's page on play-asia.com:

I have them all but, PS3's use of Region-Free discs makes an import heavy user, such as myself, spend a lot more time with it than my XboX.

    I'm just sayin'....

  • Wow I thought this was just going to be a regular 9.99 psn game. I thought the same thing for mod racers. They look like'em, they just have a full retail price. Both do not look worth 40-50 dollars if you ask me.

  • Is this the same From Software that made Demon's Souls? Quite a departure, but I say bring it on.
