The lights are on
Activision is releasing preliminary sales figures for its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, days after it was released. Believe it or not, it sold a few copies. According to the company, it had more than $310 million of sell-through sales in North America and the UK, or about 4.7 million units. And that’s just within the first 24 hours. In comparison, Halo 3’s launch scored $170 million in its first 24 hours back in 2007. (That was just in the U.S., and it was only available for one console.) Grand Theft Auto 4 sold about 6 million copies worldwide in its first week in 2008, with sales topping more than $500 million.Getting back on the subject of Modern Warfare 2, those sales make it the biggest launch of any form of entertainment since the dawn of mankind. Its a good game I got that Its only been out 2 days and I am tired of hearing about Modern Warfare 2!!!!!!!
That's awesome, still been playing since yesterday midnight...my brain is so fried. Too much MW 2!

The only thing that is gonna have bigger sales is... Modern Warfare 3
the only way there record will be broken is when modern warfare 3 comes out.
BioShock 2 is going to have large sales as well. However, I'm not sure if it's going to surpass MW2.
I'm really sick of hearing about this game. I can't imagine that it changes the FPS formula so drastically that the whole world needs to stop what they're doing and buy the game. I'm more excited for Assassin's Creed II and Bioshock 2.
That being said, I know a lot of people who own the game and won't stop ranting about it. I'll definitely give it a try, but I don't realistically see me buying into this hype. While these figures are quite impressive... they won't stand for long. There will be bigger and better releases that launch with even more fury.

It will be a while to this record is broken
The game is great, but I think that the only reason it is selling so well is because it's a bandwagon game. It only sells so much because of the hype behind it. There are so many games out there that are better, harder, and more complex that get overlooked because of hype. Just my opinion.

Personally I hate huge sales numbers because that means when the next AAA title comes out that doesn't sell nearly 5 million copies it's first day then people scoff at it and act like it can't be that good since it didn't sell as many copies as Modern Warfare 2.
The same thing happened after Halo 3 came out, it's like nowadays some people consider a AAA title to be a failure if it doesn't sell at least 1 million copies it's first day. I don't give a *** how well the game sells, I just care about how good the game is overall and whether or not that game interests me.
I'm very curious to see the breakdown per console in next month's NPDs. I wonder if the PS3 will even be REMOTELY close to 360 sales.
But the real question is can Mario beat it?
No way. I honestly think mario is toast compared to this. And nothing beats Price. Nuthin'.
So tired of hearing about this game. Especially from 360 fan boys like Brad up there. Its really nothing new or special. I regret buying it already. Airplane scene was completely unnecessary. Looking forward to Mario now, I know he won't let me down.
It was a good game. Just wish this wasn't from Activision... they're my new EA
