“Father Of PlayStation” Explores Cloud Computing

by Tim Turi on Nov 11, 2009 at 07:10 AM

Ken “Father of the PlayStation” Kutaragi has his head in the clouds. Cloud computing, that is. Yeesh, that pun was worse than I thought it’d be, sorry.

Last month the Honorary Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment founded Cyber AI Entertainment Inc. which will specialize in entertainment-focused remote data management.

90 percent of the new 20 million yen ($222,500) company is owned by Kutaragi, Nikkei reports, with the remaining 10 percent being held by board member Takashi Usuki, a former Sony Engineer.

Speaking on the direction of the company, Kutaragi said "We'll initially focus on research and development relating to information processing, targeting cutting-edge networking operations.”

With Kutaragi’s history with the video game industry up to 2007, there is no doubt that Cyber AI could be looking to change the way games are played. We’ll have to wait to see just how the company fits into place within the industry.
