New Online Modes Revealed In Super Street Fighter IV Trailer

While Street Fighter IV was a critical and commercial success, one universal complaint revolved around the online multiplayer. It was relatively lag-free and the actual gameplay was a blast, but it suffered from a lack of modes or a decent lobby system. Championship Mode introduced a new ranking system, but the game needed a full online overhaul. Super Street Fighter IV proves that Capcom has been listening to the fans, because they've introduced a slew of new online features in this trailer. Take a look below for a peek at the new modes and bonus stages.

  • I love me SF can't wait to get this addtion.

  • All of the news about this game disappoints me for one reason: I have the original SF4 and they're not going to upgrade that.  Not to mention that after this game releases, there's going to be no more onliners on the former... :-(

  • SUCKYYYYYYYYYYYYY... not enough to make this a completely new game. just like all the other super street's... a waste of money.

  • traded it in a few months ago and this is the PERFECT reason to buy it again and i'll get it this time on my new PS3 Slim! i wonder what the other 8 new characters are?

  • It looks pretty cool.  I didn't even get the original SF4, but I may check this one out.

  • ok someone tell me please. One guy told me that SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV is not an DLC ADD ON, that i have to buy it at a store, Do i have to buy the game AGAIN?

  • This is going to be released on a retail disc, yes. It will be at a discounted price, most likely in the $40ish region.

And what are you all complaining about? It's not an identical game. Capcom is going to tweak and re-balance all the characters from the "vanilla" version of SFIV as well as add 8 new characters to the roster. Also, Mr. Ono, who serves as the executive producer of this game, has implied a special bonus for those who still have their retail copy of SFIV.

The point is, they're going way above and beyond for this. Unlike the yearly Maddens and other dredge which people happily pay 60 bucks a pop for.

  • This is just flat-out rad.

  • It was annoying to have poke around to find this with the feed not displaying everything but anyway I'm none too impressed so far with these new modes for SS4, I think it needs at least four more to make it worth buying. How does it work with team battles? Can you play that mode local? Can you tag-team 2v2 style. That would be cool. Or is it just four v four one guy dies then move on to the next?

Hopefully more details will trickle out but keeping us in the dark sure isn't aiding my excitement for this expansion.

  • This will make the game even more fun, cool.

  • Is this supposed to be completely new game or a software upgrade?

  • that team mode would be sweet if you could keep playin the opposing team until you die

  • Price is $40. I hate to say it but i'll prolly get it.

  • What a rip-off, a few new online modes and two or three new chars? for $59.99? Insanity.

  • Might get this since it's lower price and have more contents.

  • NC samurai, Where are you getting you information from. SSF4 is not 60 dollars it'll be 35.00$-40.00$.

  • They are really going to make us buy this game to keep up, aren't they?

  • i wish this computer could run adobe
