The lights are on
Reports are coming in from many Modern Warfare fans in the northeast US of retailers already selling copies of Modern Warfare 2. Because of smaller stores breaking the street date, some Gamestop locations and other electronics retailers in the area have begun selling the game. Many members of gaming message boards are posting pictures of their copies alongside receipts, while others claim to have had no luck snagging a copy. I called around to several retailers in the Minneapolis area, including two Gamestops, two Walmarts, Target, and Best Buy, and each of them said they had received no word from Activision regarding an altered street date. How about you? Are there any retailers in your area that are selling legit copies already? Post in the comments below if you managed to grab a copy of this highly anticipated title.
UPDATE: We've received the following statement from an Activision spokesperson:
"Activision has not given any retailer permission to sell Modern Warfare 2 prior to the Nov. 10 street date. The company fully supports the Nov.10 street date."

Well that's bull ***! If they can do it up north why can't we do it down here in the South? Huh? If they get to do it, shouldn't everyone get to do it???
I got mine earlier today already and I cant begin to describe how amazing it is

Just as a heads up, the reason most stores are selling the copy (or at least the reason they were giving) was that they did not get it directly from EA and got their copies from somewhere else so they can pretty much sell them with no restrictions, while most of the more well known retailers such as Gamestop of BestBuy get them directly from EA
why can't they sell them early everywhere?
@ moxtop EA does not make this game so if you have a copy from EA, you better trade that back in

i live in the northeast (but no where near a place where i could get the game early) and some of my friends down state called me saying they got their copy early after constantly asking the owner of his local game store (not a brand name shop) to sell it to him...eventually le bonne homme cracked down and sold it to him
does anyone know if they are selling them in colorado?

Oh yeah, I knew about that already. In fact, I was in a Gamestop (buying Borderlands), and I even had a nice talk with the salesman about how they were selling copies already. I couldn't care less, MW2 will only have a good SP. I need to save up for Assassin's Creed 2, MAG, and (of course) Bioshock 2.

This is BS that they are selling the game early in some places.
I got mine this morning. Just beat it tonight. @BatmanPrime, it doesn't only have a good sp, everything about the game is great.
Gamestop is selling them in NJ. I got mine today and I love Activision for making my day.....a little early! Let's get the team deathmatch underway! COD is the best series ever!
