Are 360 Gamers Switching To PS3 For Holiday Sequels?

by Phil Kollar on Nov 05, 2009 at 11:25 AM

Did you play the original Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Xbox 360 when those games released in 2007? If so, a new study says that it's surprisingly likely that you'll be checking out the sequels...on PlayStation 3.

The new data provided to Gamasutra by OTX's GamePlan Insights takes a look at gamers who own the original Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare and plan to buy the sequels releasing this month. According to their results, 15 percent of those who plan to buy Assassin's Creed 2 for PlayStation 3 own the original on Xbox 360. A mere 7 percent of those buying the sequel for 360 own the original on PS3. OTX says the numbers for Modern Warfare 2 indicate a similar trend of consumers who own both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 shifting multi-platform sales to the PS3.

Any multi-console owners out there who want to weigh in on their preferences? Personally, I have both an Xbox 360 and PS3 and bought Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare on 360...but I plan to get the sequels on 360 as well. Blame it on my Achievement problem.
