Borderlands DLC Is Full Of Zombie Goodness

Looks like Gearbox is already hard at work on the DLC front for Borderlands. The first pack entitled The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned will have players dive into a silly, bloody world of zombies and other mutants. Priced at $9.99 or 800 MS Points, the content will feature a new area with new content and creatures. 2K Games has also noted that this is just the first in a planned series of content for the title.

There’s no date for The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned but we’re told it will be sometime this year. Borderlands will hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 on October 20 and the PC version drops October 26.

In the meantime, check out the zombie insanity below and check out our recent hands-on while you wait for the review.

  • Little early isn't it, the game isn't out yet.

  • i agree with morgan jarrett, i think the game should come out before they release any DLC's

  • Yeah, it might be, but BioWare is doing the same thing for Dragon Age: Origins.

  • Expert

The game will be out on the 20th. There's no release date for the content yet but you can bet it will be after launch.

  • I like the unique approach off the bat with the content. This is definitely a refreshing take on the game after seeing so much desert enviroments. Hopefully, a boosted level cap will come out in a later expansion.

  • When I first heard about all the DLC that Dragon Age was going to have right after its release I was a little miffed too.  Why don't they just include this in the game?  But then I got to thinking... Bioware doesn't disappoint on the amount of content in their games.  Dragon Age will probably give you enough bang for the buck by itself; if Bioware busted their butts and was able make even more content they should be rewarded for it by releasing as DLC.

I think the same will be for Borderlands.  The game itself already promises to be a huge game that deliver a great experience by itself.  Early DLC doesn't bother me as long as the game isn't lacking.

We're hardly getting ripped off.  Now remember the RE5 multiplayer DLC?  Now THAT was an example of getting ripped off.

  • awesome content for and awesome game already. I couldnt ask for anymore from them.

  • I will enjoy watching zombie heads explode as I snipe them from a distance, but then one will probably eat my brians out from behind so yeah...they're sneaky!

  • Wow. Zombies. How unique. Yawn.

  • now i cant wait till this game comes out!!! gotta reserve it!!!

  • So theres no confirmed date that the DLC is set to come on on yet, right? How long did it take for Fallout 3 to start shelling out DLC after its release?

  • Who cares if the DLC is being announced before the game has been released. its an island full of zombies and it looks like it should be tons of fun

  • Everyone's gotta understand that the work on the game needed to finish weeks ago so they could start production on the copies of the game.  So, while they send that to the production house, that frees them up to work on the DLC.  I'm tired of people complaining about this.  Yes, it seems unethical because it sounds like (and sometimes probably is) a nice way of price gouging the consumer.  But, I look at it as just awesome stuff they didn't have time to put into the game.  Maybe I'm wrong but thats how I see it.  And now that I see this DLC, it looks pretty awesome and I will definitely get it.

  • Staving off legions of the undead never gets old; this game has a massive amount of potential and it seems already that Gearbox has sucessfully seized it.

  • It is never early for good news. It looks sweet. And for the idiots that think DLC is coming out before the game; Shut Up! They are just mentioning the fact that they have a schedule for DLC already in place, not that the DLC is coming out before the game. So gullible like tella-tubbies. Silly no0bs

  • Lets just put zombies in every game now. What ever happened to aliens? Or maybe even insurgents that would be fun.

  • I Am HAPPY they are already working on DLC. I hate to wait for DLC. PLUS, this shows that we can expect ALOT of support for this title.

  • Really not pleased with the direction DLC is going. If they're working on something scheduled to release the same as the game releases, why isn't it included in the cost of the game, with the disc? It's ridiculous. I really appreciate the way Batman AA did it (mostly).

  • This game is going to be raw as hell! I can't wait to see how the co-op will hold up and the fact that they are already working on DLC is good.

  • I think maybe the complaint that people are making, which many people in here are complaining about people complaining about, stems from this:

    $$$This DLC costs money.$$$

Unlike DLC for games like Batman which is released within one or two weeks of the game itself.
