Two Okamiden DS Trailers Now Available

When I hear someone say "Chibiterasu", I think of a tasty desert...a pie made of dog meat. Strange? Yes. Tasty? Absolutely. And in case you are wondering where this is going, Chibiterasu is not a desert. This young pup (pictured above) is Chibiterasu, Okamiden's protagonist, and the son of Okami's Amaterasu. In the interest of time (I'm running to the bakery and pound), I'll stop blabbing and let you check out Okamiden's first two videos. As you'll soon see, the brush strokes from the original game make a return, and are expanded in scope through the DS's touch screen.

  • Ha at Susano bouncing along on Amaterasu's back.

Awww, puppy Amaterasu. Looks really good on the DS, too. Can't wait for it.

  • Hm...so is this the sequel we were all waiting for? or a prequel which is also good?

  • How do companies make DS games look this good?

  • Is this really coming to America? Hope so, and I also hope the childishness doesn't degrade it, and that at least some of the folks that worked on the original found a job here. Have to admit, very fitting for the DS.

    I mean...

    Gross!

  • Haha, thanks to Reiner for that bit of comedy gold (it's seems as though some people didn't get the joke).  This is exactly the kind of game that the DS, mixing a simple gameplay concept with good style and story choices.  Looks to be fun.

  • Okami was amazing...i am definately buying this game.

  • this music is amazing

  • Okami was freaking amazing. Hope that this doesn't disappoint.

  • Now that is the best looking DS game I have ever seen. I will buy it when it comes out XD

So, did anyone else think of Okami being a DS game when you played it? I did!

  • This is going to be great.  The way the incorporate the ds stylus is cool.

  • I never played the original for Wii. I may have to fix that. I really like the art style of the game, and the gameplay seems pretty different.

  • Isn't clover the original developer??

  • My jaw dropped when I saw this.  I loved the first Okami, and the Ds version looks just as good.  Can't wait!  I hope it comes here!

  • Uh-oh---I think you mean "dessert"! ^__^

  • Guys if you read the description to the article than you would know that this is a sequel, and that isn't Ammy. Its her son, Chibiterasu. I am glad that they made a sequel to one of the greatest PS2 cult classics.

To be honest I am surprised they didn't make a DS version of the game earlier. Its very fitting considering the touch screen.

  • Sort of reminds me of "wind waker"

  • Okami for the PS2 was a buried gem, shining brightly, yet unnoticed. If they are attempting to take the original onto the DS with some story changes (like they did with Kingdom Hearts 358 /2 Days) then I see little success in this adaptation. I only wish it got the fan base it deserved, but the small one it has now will certainly play this game, if not only to encourage a PS3 sequel. I will get my hands on a copy or 12 as soon as I can!
