EA Sways More Stars To Sing Simlish

by Meagan Marie on Oct 13, 2009 at 04:24 AM

EA announced today that they have convinced a slew of new artists to recreate their hits in Simlish – the nonsensical language spoken in the top-selling franchise. Hoping to prove that Simlish is a global language amongst fans, several big names have been added to the roster.

What’s the occasion? EA is using the boost in publicity to promote The Sims 3 World Adventures expansion pack, which allows players to take their Sims to international locations inspired by real-world landmarks. Here they will be able to learn new skills, find new personal opportunities and partake in unique cultures that travel home with them.

So who’s who? Most notably Leann Rimes joins the fray, with Fefe Dobson, Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Katie Melua, Esme Denters, Evan Taubenfeld, Madina Lake and more joining the list. We’ve been promised music videos to accompany some of the revamped hits at some point in the future.

The full list of additions can be found below:

  • LeAnn Rimes – “You've Ruined Me”
  • Fefe Dobson – “I Want You”
  • Katie Melua – “If the lights go out”
  • Madina Lake – “Lets Get Outta Here”
  • Manchester Orchestra – “I've Got Friends”
  • Natalie Portman's Shaved Head – “Me + Yr Daughter”
  • Esme Denters – “Outta Here”
  • Hot Chelle Rae – “Say”
  • Audrye Sessions – “Turn Me Off”
  • Metalkpretty – “Wake Up, Wake Up”
  • Evan Taubenfeld – “Pumpkin Pie”
  • Friday Night Boys – “Can't Take That Away”
  • Cassie Steele – “Summer Nights”
  • Broken Hearts College – “Na Na Na”

Previously announced artists and songs include:

  • Nelly Furtado – “Manos al Aire”
  • Pixie Lott – “Mama Do”
  • Stefanie Heinzmann – “No One (Can Ever Change My Mind)”
  • Matt & Kim – “Daylight”
  • Young Punx – “Juice and Sim”

“My friends have told me about The Sims for years and I’ve also heard Natasha Bedingfield and Black Eyed Peas versions of their songs in Simlish, so I was thrilled to be in on the fun,” said LeAnn Rimes. “It’s so cool to have my own music in such an iconic game.”

Haven’t heard a song in Simlish before? Here’s your opportunity. Check out Katy Perry’s Simlish version of “Hot n Cold” in here.

The Sims 3 World Adventures expansion pack is expected to ship to retail the week of November 16.
