Tim Schafer On Jimmy Fallon Tonight

by Tim Turi on Oct 02, 2009 at 05:27 AM

Jimmy Fallon is a big video game fan, and the gaming community has noticed. On his Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show, he's demoed Project Natal and even bested Tiger Woods at his own game. Now the talk-show host is taking a step past mainstream gaming news and bringing on an industry legend who deserves as much exposure as anyone, Tim Schafer.

As founder of game designer at Double Fine Studios, Schafer is responsible for such amazing titles as Maniac Mansion and The Secret of Monkey Island. His creations are famous for being critically acclaimed but under-performing on store shelves. Hopefully, with Schafer's upcoming Jimmy Fallon appearance, his heavy metal masterpiece Brütal Legend will cause viewers across the world to come down with a bad case of face-melt.

Schafer is not afraid to speak his mind, either, so hilarity is bound to ensue with the energetic Fallon at the helm. Regarding the legal battle over his upcoming game, Schafer has been quoted, saying "Hey, if Activision liked it, then they should have put a ring on it." Oh great, now Beyoncé is going to sue me too." Let's all pray Schafer blesses us with another quotable gem this evening.

We recently interviewed Jimmy Fallon in this month's issue of Game Informer (#198; pg.16), and the former-SNL cast member had a lot to say about the exposure of video game creators. He said, "The people behind the scenes don't really get a chance to come out and talk about it... If we can get the developer or a programmer, not just someone that's the voice of the game, I think it'd be so interesting." The host then mentioned his intentions to bring Schafer onto the show.

Looks like Fallon is a man of his word. Tonight's show is bound to produce some chuckles.
