The lights are on
I was very excited when the PSPgo arrived in the office. I had been covering the handheld's exposure over the months, and was intrigued by the prospect of a digital-only device. My enthusiasm persisted as I contemplated tearing into the shiny box, but held off for the sake of an epic unboxing video. After freeing the thing from its packaging, I spent an entire day messing around with it. I downloaded games, videos, pictures, and played the gamut of titles on the sexy handheld. Were my expectations met as I explored the market's newest gaming device, or is the PSPgo a handicapped device with a pretty new coat of paint?
Our inaugural video review. The PSPgo is first up to bat. I apologize in advance that my mug is the first face you have to see in full motion on the new site, feel free to squirm in your chair as you watch my awkwardness.Video:
Hey Tim... someone told me that the heat is on. From your experience, would you say that's correct?
Hey everybody. Ok, here`s the thing. I`m on a ''inner war'' of what to get: A PSPgo or a PS3? What do u guys recommend?
@TheTalech
Honestly, I would shell out the extra $50 and just get a PS3. You can still play the PSone classics on it, download PSN-only titles, and on top of that play every awesome game the PS3 has to offer (which is more than the PSP's library).
Plus, Uncharted 2.
@Tim Turi
Ok, I think you`re right. Besides Uncharted 2 the PS3 has God of War III, MAG, Infamous, Heavy Rain and others, right?
Don't forget Blu Ray capabilities. Hi-def movies rule. Especially if you didn't have one already and are trying to enjoy that new TV/entertainment setup.
Tim is my hero.
@TheTalech Tim is right. Shell out for the PS3. More/higher quality games. Plus, God of War III, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain and more are exclusive to it. Can't wait!!!
As I've posted in the previous forums, there is no reason for any consumer to purchase this as long as the 3000 model is on the market. Sony can't continue to support both. If they want to push digital distribution, they should have gone all in with the PSP.
In my personal opinion the psp-go is just way to pricey for what your getting. If you think about it your better off getting a PSP 3000 and buying a 16Gb memory card and it will still come out cheaper then the psp-go. That way you will have the best of both worlds. As for TheTalech I will recommend you paying the extra $50.00 and getting the PS3, there is no comparison.
Knowing Sony and their facination of upgrading their systems. I'm just gonna wait till they make a 32GB system or at least wait till M2 memory is cheaper. $49.99 for 4GB?! no wayyyyy! It does help to have a PS3 though. I think owners of a PS3 will enjoy their PSPgo much more with the ability to store and download their games from PS3 and transfer to and from it rather than a PC.
I'll be posting a huge highlight reel of Tim messing up tomorrow on my blog.
I cant see the video review (or any other video for that matter) Can someone help me? Do I need a new player or something? (I use google chrome)
@kevattack
Try clearing your temporary internet files cache. If that fails, you could always try Mozilla or IE.
it didn't work in i.e., but everything seems fine in firefox
I was skeptical of the PSPgo, but after checking it out I was actually pretty impressed. That said, I'm in the same boat as everyone else -- I'll spend the extra $50 and grab myself a PS3!
@Kevattack Glad you got it to work! We'll definitely be fixing the problems with other browsers, but the site was optimized for Firefox, so it will be your best bet for the time being...
I might get this, but I wasn't really thinking about it in the first place. You made some interesting comments on the system, and I feel that within the next two years or so, Sony will make a slightly modified version.
It seems like a lot of people might miss out on the no UMD, but I never had a PSP in the first place.
Are all of the games on previous PSP systems available on the PSPgo?
P.S: Nice singing voice at the end!
This would be a great idea if it had a umd replacement plan, anyone have any news on that?
Oh, by the way, nice upgrade Game Informer!
@Dr.Crunch-Bite

ARGH! One can only hope!
Im keeping my fingers crossed, because the pspgo is a nice system if you look the price tag...
