Plants vs. Zombies Now Available in Free Flash Form

by Annette Gonzalez on Sep 23, 2009 at 09:09 AM

Earlier this year, casual gaming giant PopCap released their latest dangerously addictive concoction, Plants vs. Zombies. This seemingly innocuous take on the tower defense genre turned out to provide a deep and satisfying experience, possibly surprising many hardcore gamers who angrily identified PopCap as ‘casual,’ and thus not worth paying attention to. Well, just in case anyone remains unmoved by the tons of praise heaped onto this game, today PopCap unveiled a new way to give it a chance.

If you head over to PopCap’s website, you can now play a free Flash version of Plants vs. Zombies in your browser. This isn’t your average lean Flash game, though. The Flash translation of Plants vs. Zombies contains three game modes (Adventure, Endless Survival, and Vasebreaker), 14 levels in adventure modes, 12 plant types (out of 40 in the full game), and six zombie types, one of which is completely new.

That’s enough content that it should both convince non-believers and give fans of the game some fun incentive to return to the never-ending fight against the undead.
