Busted! Officers Caught Playing Wii During Drug Bust

by Annette Gonzalez on Sep 23, 2009 at 08:00 AM

In March, drug investigators raided the Florida residence of a 43-year-old-man where they found drugs, weapons and a Nintendo Wii. If they had looked a little harder, they would have noticed a security camera, which captured footage of the detectives playing Wii Sports bowling for nine hours during the raid , according to NBC2 News Online.  Some detectives continued searching the home for illegal items, others searched for a way to nail a 7-10 split.

It was reported that there were 16 Polk County detectives searching the property for nine hours costing taxpayers a total of $4,000. Supervisors on site did not ask the detectives to turn the game off.

“How do you explain it?” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “Well you can’t explain that my deputies know that they shouldn’t have been playing Wii while they were involved in that search warrant.”

We can’t help but wonder if the detectives took the Wii back to the station for “further investigation.”
