The lights are on
If you were a gamer between the ages of 12 and 30 in the late-90s, Rare's latest Q&A is sure to disappoint you. Despite the fact that it would assuredly be a top seller, the possibility of Goldeneye 007 appearing on Xbox Live Arcade or Virtual Console is "long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards." You may remember this matter being brought up as a possibility numerous times in the past, with some websites and magazines even posting high-res photos of the supposedly in-development game. Those desperate to someday see "Achievement Unlocked: Make Everyone Hate You By Being Oddjob" appear on their screens can possibly find solace in Rare's last line on the matter: "...but you never know. Stranger things have happened... somewhere... probably."Strange like the high definition version of Perfect Dark that's hitting the downloadable scene? At least we have that...

Sad day. Well, it's a good thing I found my copy of Golden Eye. But who knows, maybe they'll change their mind in a few more years and release it on the next gen.
To bad. This could have been a real money maker for Rare. Has anyone heard anything about a Killer Instinct release?
WOW this would have been a great game for xbla brings back memories Probably the greatest shooter that got people into shooters. Wish that wish could come true...
Who cares? I used to love this game. IF you've played it recently then you know it is dog farts when compared to today's FPS games. Seriously, I dare you to go back and try to play it...
Its not entirely dead. On the PC there is Goldeneye Source that runs on the Half life engine. It is a recreation of Goldeneye. It is a pretty good job too. Check it out if you have time.
Oh c'mon Rare, they should really relase Goldeneye on XBLA or the Virtual Console, they could get a ton of money for that.
Really Rare? Really?
That was absolutely the best multi-player shooting game I played in my childhood. I didn't really like the rest of the 007 games...
As if the NXE avatars weren't bad enough...
I don't think the game would hold up without some sort of graphical overhaul. Besides, Rare is not the only rights holder when it comes to some of their older titles. The big N would almost certainly have something to say about them as well. You know that Nintendo doesn't want to let Microsoft have them without paying a king's ransom.
Awwwwwwwwww, I remember first playing this game. Too bad, sad day in gaming. xD.
I will forever refer to Halo as the Goldeneye of the new gen. That game truly unleashed shooter multi player on consoles in a strong, addictive way we have come to love. I really would have enjoyed indulging in this over XBL.
Goldeneye is a great game and if you added achievements to it, you would make money. I bought Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie because of the following:
1. Achievements
2. Had them for N64 but no longer do
Goldeneye I believe would have the same if not a better effect.
That really sucks...
Am I the only one who thinks that releasing this game would set the record for largest "Buyer's Remorse" pandemic? Think about, Goldeneye may have been good a decade ago, but I wonder how many of the people who post on forums and what not, crying out for this title have played it in the last 8 years.
It's (gasp!!) really not that good.
Nostalgia inducing? Yes.
Of good quality able to stand up against even a sub-par shooter today? Unfortunately not so much.
It would sell a ton of copies, though...
What is the new direction and strategy for Rare? How to be broker faster?
I thought it was in the Wii Shop Channel for a while. I wish it went on Xbox Live
Always a chance, though it's officialy not in development towards the public, they may decide to change that later on, and it might just come up to surprise everyone. I liked the fact that with just one stick you could do all the stuff back then, that i probably now do with 2 on current gen games. So many possibilities would go to waste if they abandon it. So hopely in due time, it will come out using new peripherals just as *cough* Natal mechanic, *cough* *cough*
I would love to have broken out of the jail actually using my own arms and body (like using right hand to change the mode of my watch, then crouching down, point my hand towards the screen and zapping the key) oh joy. /\O/\
