Afrika to Arrive on U.S. PS3

Any wistful memories of Sony's E3 2006 press conference floating around in your head? Do you fondly recall a glorified tech demo of a game called Afrika? You don't remember!? Come on, it was a Japan exclusive that was like Pokemon Snap with lions and hippos. No? Well, it turns out the game has finally been localized for the U.S. The year old game is billed as a "family-oriented" title where players snap photos in an unexplored region of the continent.

"Anyone can pick it up and enjoy its beauty, but it has enough depth and challenge to satisfy even the most hardcore players," said Hiro Maekawa, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studio's president and CEO. Nothing says hardcore like photographing wildlife.

No concrete release date has been set, but the game will retail for $49.99, only $10 short of full retail price on next-gen games. We recommend using the extra $10 to purchase the "Africa" album by stock '80s butt-rock band Toto.
