Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (April 21, 2016)

by Game Informer Editorial on Apr 21, 2016 at 06:02 AM

This week of blogs covers everything from gaming woes to Destiny to Kingdom Hearts. It's odd to write Kingdom Hearts and actually have a new game out for the series. Anyway, enjoy this week's blogs!

Community Blogs For April 14 – April 20:

3 Gaming Trends That Need To Stop
Edwinjoe450 writes that greed has changed the gaming landscape. His list of things that need to change follows that theme, including DLC, sequels, and season passes. I can't remember the last time I bought a season pass or full-priced DLC. And don't get me started on pre-order bonuses that happen to be digital.

Out With New, In With The Old: A Plea To Nintendo
Blogger Raging Searchers  digs deep into what Nintendo has done over the years, coming up with one main point: The Big N needs to make a new 2D Metroid game. Okay, so that's not exactly what this blog is all about, but we need it, Nintendo.

My Sterling Folly
Rebekah Lang had a terrible experience with a new feature in Destiny, which is sad, because she really loves the game. Like, wrote a poem/had an energetic meltdown over how excited she is to play it again. Her enthusiasm, in spite of writing that Destiny is "frustrating," has me in space this week and joining my first clan in any game, I believe.

The Good Side Of Giving Second Chances
GerardoExber writes an interesting blog this week. I too have quit games after not enjoying them, only to come back to one and end up loving it. I'm like that with comics, movies, TV shows, and a number of things, really, so it makes sense.

Is The Doom Hate Justified?
Psykologic has read the negative impressions following Doom's beta. But are they really that accurate? It's hard to rate a beta version of a game, and maybe the single-player experience is going to be amazing. The fact of the matter is that it's different strokes for different folks.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained X Impressions
Justin Mikos makes a strong case for the newest Kingdom Hearts game. This may be game number one million in the series, but the free-to-play iOS and Android game sounds interesting...even though I have no idea what the Keyblade War is that everyone keeps writing about. To be honest, I only remember most of the first game, and the second one is a total blur.

Community Reviews:

Dark Souls III Review – Refinement Above All
Edwinjoe450 is enjoying the new Dark Souls game. How much? He gave it a staggering 9. I haven't played the series since the first one. I was doing quite well, wondering why people thought the game was so hard, and then I got stuck in a barrel. The game glitched and shot me miles off the map.

Community Writing Challenge:

What's the weirdest thing you've ever experienced in a game? Was it something in Conker's Bad Fur Day? Was it a glitch? One time while playing Super Mario 64, Mario started to have what looked like a seizure and a metallic noise blared out of my TV speakers. I haven't played it my Nintendo 64 since.

Community Playdate:

This week's playdate game will be Star Wars Battlefront on the PS4. We'll be playing on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. CST. Newcomers and veterans are welcome. Please add me, Louiskensei, and let me know if you're playing in the comments below.
