Replay – Echo Night

by Andrew Reiner on Apr 15, 2016 at 03:00 PM

From Software is mostly known as the development house behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but decades ago the studio explored a wide variety of genres, from the intense mech action in Armored Core to the strange murder mystery in Echo Night. With a new Dark Souls game hitting this week, we thought it would be a great time to dive into Echo Night. The first half of this week's episode explores the opening moments of this gem from yesteryear.

Echo Night was released on July 31, 1999 for PlayStation. The game found success in Japan, leading to two sequels: Echo Night 2: The Lords of Nightmare in 1999, and Echo Night: Beyond in 2004. Echo Night 2 never made it stateside, but Agetc published Beyond stateside. If you like what you see of the original Echo Night in this Replay, let us know if you want us to explore the series further in an episode down the road.

Our second segment is a competition, one of the strangest we've had on the show, and we've made some odd ones. Again, let us know what you think of the episode in the comments section below. We'll be back with another episode next Friday night.
