Adr1ft's Adam Orth Shares His Top 10 Games Of 2015

by Game Informer Editorial on Dec 27, 2015 at 06:00 AM

On the lead up to Game Informer's Game of the Year awards of 2015, we've invited a number of the video game industry's influential figures to share their favorite games of the year.

Adam Orth in a video game industry veteran. After working on a wide variety of games for Microsoft, EA, and LucasArts, Orth founded Three One Zero, and is the creative director of the studio's first project, Adr1ft. Orth is also a musician who recorded a song with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo in the band Homie.

Here is Orth with his picks for the Top 10 Games of 2015:

1. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
My GOTY by far. I can’t bring myself to finish it because I never want it to end. Kojima’s full realization of his vision. 10/10 masterpiece and my favorite open world game ever.

2. Her Story (iOS)
Simple execution, brilliant story and the performance of a lifetime from Viva Seifert. I could not put my iPad down.

3. Star Wars Battlefront (PS4)
I don’t care what anyone says about Battlefront. EA DICE perfectly executed what Battlefront needed to be: Unprecedented Star Wars fan service, super fun and accessible on a mass scale.

4. Lara Croft GO (iOS)

I’m not a fan of the gritty Tomb Raider reboots. GO brings me back to why I love the series. It perfectly scratches the itch and just feels warm and magical to me. Please make more of these.

5. Crossy Road (iOS)

Completely addictive and a super-fresh take on blending classic with current. Ridiculously beautiful and impossible to put down. JUST. ONE. MORE.

6. Rocket League (PS4)
My favorite sport of 2015 :) There is so much great game design in this game. Probably the most pure fun I had playing games this year.

7. You Must Build A Boat (iOS)

10000000 is a never-remove-from-my-phone game. YMBAB is no exception. I love how Luca Redwood has remixed genre that needed it and made it his own. <3

8. Destiny (PS4)
My favorite Bungie game. Everything about Destiny is fresh and exciting to me. The ambition turns me on so hard! I have a lot of FOMO anxiety with Destiny. That’s the sign of a great game to me.

9. Fallout Shelter (iOS)
Just brilliant. Really great way to extend the Fallout universe. I spent a LOT of money on this game!

10. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (PS4)
Beautiful, incredibly realized world and a wonderful story. I felt like this game was overlooked, which is a shame. As a creator, EGTTR is inspirational and aspirational. Play this game.
