Replay – Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros' Treasure

by Tim Turi on Jul 25, 2015 at 03:00 AM

The Wii is primarily known for its collection of super successful first-party Nintendo games and loads of shovelware that overflowed on store shelves during the console's reign. Some third-party publishers launched interesting new IPs on the console as well, and if you ever made it all the way to the "z" section of your local retailer you might have spotted the adorable characters on the Zack & Wiki box. For this week's Replay, we return to Capcom's little hidden treasure on the Wii.

This 2007 title stars a little mute pirate named Zack and his cuddly monkey pal, Wiki (who looks suspiciously like Data from Capcom's Mega Man Legends). Take a glance at Zack & Wiki and you might expect something like a traditional platformer, but it's actually a colorful adventure game with more in common with LucasArts' classic point-and-clicks. Stay tuned for the second segment where we hatch open another forgotten third-party title from a Nintendo console. This week it's Andrew Reiner, Jeff Cork, and me. We're also happy to be joined by longtime Replay fan Nick Ransbottom, who members of our Facebook group I Watched the Entire Overblood Super Replay may recognize.
