Readers Suggest Over 30 Franchises (and 3 Car Manufacturers) They Want For Lego Dimensions

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 12, 2015 at 01:37 PM

The recently announced Lego Dimensions represents much broader options for the incorporation of assorted franchises when compared to its competition. Skylanders is limited to the characters Activision creates. Amiibos are limited to Nintendo franchises and the rare non-Nintendo video game franchise that appears in Super Smash Bros. (though, admittedly this may expand in the future). Disney Infinity is limited to franchises owned by Disney. The big advantage of Lego Dimensions is that, even though it will likely live in the universes owned by Warner Bros., it has the ability to incorporate other franchises because it can turn them into Lego creations before they make an appearance.

Because of this, and because of the many franchises that have already been given the Lego treatment, we asked our readers what franchises they would like to see appear in the upcoming Lego Dimensions – and the responses were vast. The discussion was established with the conceit that suggestions be limited to franchises that have already received the Lego treatment, but that was thrown out immediately. Readers reached far and wide to suggest any and all franchises, regardless of whether they have a chance of appearing.

As a recap, franchises we definitely know will be included in the game are Back to the Future, Ninjago, DC (with characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg), Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie characters, and The Wizard of Oz. Ghostbusters and The Simpsons were also teased in the game's announcement trailer. You can check out the trailer again below.

In terms of video game franchises readers want to see get turned into Lego and appear in the game, multiple readers elected Halo and Mass Effect. Other games included Grand Theft Auto, Dead Space, Final Fantasy, and Mega Man. None seem particularly likely, but the last two certainly don't seem impossible.

TV shows were also popular suggestions. The only TV show that was suggested multiple times, surprisingly, was SpongeBob SquarePants. Other suggested shows, listed in order of possibly appearing to flat out impossible included The Simpsons, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Doctor Who, Futurama, The Walking Dead, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, Family Guy, Cleveland Show, American Dad, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Robot Chicken, Married With Children, Seinfeld, Golden Girls, and Gilmore Girls.

Readers also suggested assorted film and multimedia franchises. Many suggested Jurassic Park and Harry Potter, which seem like pretty safe bets. Some difficult to determine suggestions came forward, too. Star Wars was a big one, but it is owned by Disney now, which makes things tricky. The same goes for Marvel and Disney Princess, which were also suggested. Readers also asked for The Matrix, Hellraiser, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Legos, the latter of which seems like the only one that has a chance.

One reader, , suggested some car manufacturers get in on the Lego Dimensions game saying Ferrai, Mclaren, and Porsche should all appear in the game.

Finally, to fill out the list, readers suggested a number of Lego sets and themes they hope to see in the game including Legends of Chima, Ultra Agents, Johnny Thunder, castle, pirates, Island, and Racers sets, but the big one that was the clear winner was Bionicle. Many readers suggested Bionicle's inclusion in Dimensions.

Surprisingly, no one suggested Minecraft.
