Replay – Mega Man X2

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 08, 2014 at 02:00 AM

This week we're taking a look at X's sophomore effort in Mega Man X2. This 1994 SNES sequel to the fantastic Mega Man X series reboot stars the titular hero on his continuing journey to track down the renegade Marverick robots, steal their varying powers, and turn them against them in order to save the world.

Join myself and Tim Turi, arguably the office's biggest Mega Man fan, and Andrew Reiner and Jeff Cork, who have an amicable relationship with the series, but aren't quite the same level as Tim and myself.

If it's not clear from the episode, I have played a lot of Mega Man X2. The Mega Man X games are among my favorites and I have lost count of the number of times I've played through the first two in the series. The speed of platforming coupled with the ability to dash and climb on walls makes even simple movements quick and fun. Couple that with fun shooting an attractive art style and an interesting near post-apocolyptic story that follows up the original Mega Man's escapades in a cool way (trust me, it's there if you look for it), I am confident the Mega Man X games will always be fun.

You'll definitely want to stick around for our second segment, as well, where we look at a pair of quirky Genesis games.
