Replay – Xena: Warrior Princess

by Andrew Reiner on Feb 08, 2014 at 02:00 AM

In the fall of 1999, Renaissance Pictures' Xena: Warrior Princess made an unexpected splash in video games. This show, which followed the battle-hardened warrior Xena on her quest to redeem her past sins, caught the eye of two game publishers. Electronic Arts struck first. Teaming with developer Vivendi Universal, Electronic Arts released a hack n' slash adventure game based on the show on September 30 for PlayStation and Game Boy Color. Game Informer critic Matt Helgeson gave this Chakram-throwing experience a fair grade, comparing it to the wacky Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman. A few months after this game hit the market, Titus Software release Xena: Warrior Princess – Talisman of Fate, a fighting game for Nintendo 64 that...well...you'll just have to see for yourself.

We take a look at both of these games in an extended episode or Replay. After watching these two games, stick around for a third segment.
