The lights are on
BioWare listens to their fans. When we visited the studio for the latest cover story, the development team made it clear that a lot of their audience enjoyed the more tactical approach to combat from Dragon Age: Origins. While BioWare wouldn't confirm the return of the tactical view from that game, creative director Mike Laidlaw and executive produce Mark Darrah are pushing for more strategic encounters in Inqusition. We spoke with Laidlaw and Darrah about their vision for the next iteration of combat in the series, and senior gameplay designer Josh Stiksma showed off some pre-alpha footage.

Looks very promising.
From what I saw, that Greatsword swing animation looks pretty good. Of course it's alpha but still it looks solid. I'm probably going to dip in on the game but I'm extremely skeptical that Bioware will be able to bring out a game as good as Origins.
I'm a big fan of what Dragon Age has always brought to the table. While the 2nd one seemed to be lacking in several ways, what they appear to be bringing out in the third one is exactly what was needed. I'm excited to see what this one finally becomes.
Did i just saw roll/dodge???(at 2:12) That right there is a huge improvement (imo), I hope DA3 becomes the best DA, looks good.
I loved the fluidity of DA2, but I loved the tactics of DAOrigins cause it was something different for me to play and it was fun. Meld the two some how
i still want a pet dragon. or to control or summon a dragon like in Skyrim but better.
Too bad about the lack of the isometric view, I loved the Baldur's Gate vibe it gave off!
Watching this, immediately after the gameplay video for Dying Light, has just gotten me truly ready for next gen. I was worried I was never going to get that same feeling I got when I first played Xbox 360, now I know I will.
Looking very nice!
As I wait for these videos every day and week, I grow more restless to play the game and in the same time want them to take their time to polish it even more, ME 3 was amazing but suffered some problems due to time constraints and DA2 was, well, lets say I played DAO more than 20 times and played DA2 just once
Always played Human, didn't like the other races :)
So they brought the Harpoon with them from Amalur, I see. The combat looks even more action oriented than DA2. I saw a dodge roll in there.
God. Damn. It.
