Crystal Dynamics is best known for their work on Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain, and Gex. One of their Playstation titles is rarely talked about when discussing the company's history, and that's the action platformer Akuji the Heartless. We were curious to revisit the title to see if it was an underappreciated gem, so we picked it for this week's Replay.

Never heard of it, so it should be interesting. Plus, Robert Bowling is a cool guy, and the Showdown continues, so it shouldn't disappoint.

God, the first game choice was great on Hanson's part...the second one...not so much. I won't spoil, but I'll say I'm mixed on who won.

I remember being 10 and playing this at a friends house it was awful. But we gained enjoyment by calling it akuji the fartless. Sigh simpler times.

I don't really care if the games are good or bad, I had a blast watching the Showdown and the regular Replay was fun, too. Never heard of the game before though. Go Indigo Prophecy! I kinda wanna see that.

Robert Bowling needed to talk more, you didn't ask him anything either. otherwise, it was a good replay.

hanson picks rough games. i also question the integrity of the competition, but they are entertaining nonetheless!

Don't worry Tim I remember that episod and I always get tht same feeling. By the way Jeff nothing is better than Custom Robo, We need 3 Super Replay's of that marvelous classic.

Great surprise guest. That game actually didn't look terrible. As for the showdown. I was surprised to see the first round end so soon. And I actually used to be a Small Soldiers fan so kudos to you Hanson. Congrats to JeffM and Reiner though.

lol, Akuji was utter crap. Tons of screen tearing, game breaking bugs and awful mechanics.

Ok... SO there's an awful show (or was, it may have been canceled) called Pair of Kings. The title image on this (The one you'd see scrolling through the main site) Replay looks almost EXACTLY like one of their Spider tribe warriors. Anyone else get caught watching that show agree...? Also, I've very much enjoyed the games picked by Hanson. Its much more exciting to watch two people struggle to grasp the controls and then go at each other with that minimal knowledge than watch 2 people play games they know what they're doing in. Its like in the colosseum when lions would be raised to the surface; its more fun because you didnt know that would happen. :P

Wonderful Replay this week! And thanks for Robert Bowling guest starring! I loved playing Akuji as a kid. I think I beat it 2 or 3 times, such a fun game.

And what a Super Replay Showdown! Ben Hanson, I love that man and am glad he chooses these ridiculous games and challenges.
