The lights are on
If you're on this site, chances are you can hum a good amount of game music just off of memory. Hell, plenty of people who have never played a game in their life can instantly recognize the Mario theme. However, things aren't always as pleasant as exploring Zelda's overworld while listening to sweeping, iconic tunes. We've all had times in which we've scrambled to the options menu to turn music down or even turn the damn game off. Here's our big list of the biggest offenders.
The Adventures of Rad Gravity - Title Screen (NES)
We'll start with one of the worst tracks on this entire list, but it's also one that several of us have become weirdly fond of after repeated viewings.
Mario Party 2 - Honeycomb Havoc (Nintendo 64)
This one doesn't start out offensively bad, but the looping tune becomes gradually more annoying as you play this luck-filled minigame.
Doom - The Imp's Song (32X)
This sounds like a smoke detector going off while a car sits outside with its bass turned up too high.
Gears of War - Cole Train rap (Xbox 360)
Ending credits raps were lame even when Tone Loc did it for Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Cole Train's rap after the first Gears of War was not an exception.
Resident Evil: Director's Cut - Mansion Basement (PSone)
According to the top YouTube comment, this track sounds like "Charlie Brown's parents having sex." That comment isn't wrong.

I kinda enjoyed the Knuckles rap to be perfectly honest. :P
i almost snapped my ds in half when resetti came on
Sonic Adventure, Adventure 2, and Heroes had the best soundtracks out of the 3D Sonics. For me, the Pumpkin Hill rap is just a weird part of nostalgia I have for that entire era.
wheres sonic freerider?
The CoD thing was actually kinda cool when I first saw it. Neat little thing at the end.
And then the song started, and I wanted to kill myself.
I just realized that Sonic Chronicles - Nocturne is an extremely terrible cover of the final boss in Sonic & Knuckles... My god... What have they done to one of my favorite songs!?
love cruisn usa music. Maybe because of the nostalgia?
My God I wanted to punch who ever was the one to put that song in Marvel vs Capcom, thats bad game making rite there.
The Knuckles song wasn't that bad, definently gave feeling to the map you were on.
Sorry, but the Blind Guardian concert in Sacred 2 was one of the greatest things ever. Heck, you just went on a multi-part quest to get all their instruments back from undead, so you should get a concert out of it!
That's what introduced me to Blind Guardian, and now I'm a huge fan! I was ecstatic when I realized the Sacred 2 concert scene was included with the At The Edge of Time deluxe CD!
I think the Sonic and the Secret Rings theme is pretty good if you take out the lyrics. That aside, I agree that those songs aren't that great. :P But there's no way you can say that sonic is the "king of awful gaming music".
I loved the Cruisin' USA music, lol. My brother and I would play that game for hours!
That character selection music for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is blaringly out of place. Such an odd song to have playing at that moment; it would become so repetitive. Also, those Sonic ones are pretty bad. I remember really hating that Knuckles mission just because of the music. :P
The Mansion Basement song sounds like a brass section tuning.
i actually really like the pumpkin hill song
Capcom = Japanese
There theme sounds like the begging of an anime so anime fans could probably get into it
