Replay – BloodRayne

Vampires may be all over pop culture today, but they weren't quite as ubiquitous back in the early 2000s. They still reared their heads every once in a while, though, and one of those times was in BloodRayne for PS2. In this episode of Replay, we take a look at the first game in the series, which spawned films and a sequel.

Check it out below to see Andrew Reiner, Kim Wallace, Jason Oestreicher, and myself suck blood down in the swamps.

  • Never heard of it. Should be an interesting Replay.
  • Maybe it's better than the movies.
  • If you're interested in hilarious Twilight videos I would suggest the bad lip reading vids for everyone: http://youtu.be/FmxSk0wZxss
  • Bloodrayne was fun once you started going after the nazis but it was very repetitive and the later levels got pretty frustrating because of camera issues.

  • Ah, the game I wanted so badly when it came out but I ended up buying other (better) titles. Funny to watch with some nice ideas, but Blood Omen 2 was my vampire game back in the Ps2 era.
  • I remember this game. I enjoyed it back in college. These replay segments really take you back. Kudos for doing an obscure game.

  • BloodRayne? Blood Rain? I get it!

Alyson Hannigan is a relatively pretty redhead. By the way, I wasn't offended by anything Dan said this episode, but I don't like wrestling either.
  • I've been itchin' for some Replay!

  • I really liked Bloodrayne 2. It's a shame that they never made another sequel. Terminal Reality made another game I loved called Nocturne where you play as The Stranger, a dual pistol-wielding noir hero. The Rayne character, I believe, was based om a female vampire character that was an ally of The Stranger in Nocturne. So, the Bloodrayne games are spin-offs of Nocturne.
  • I remember playing this game as a kid and just getting to a point where it was impossible to beat bosses and levels without cheating. Gratuitous violence cheat was also on before I even understood what that meant. And, "ahead of the curve when it came to the vampire craze in pop culture"? You know what else was? Everything else that came out before Twilight. Not really that special in that regard because the fascination over the biters is pretty much that recent.
  • Dang, I was hoping you guys would announce what Super Replay was coming tomorrow. Oh well.
  • Wow, Dan, you're just fishing for backlash, huh? I can get not liking a genre, but fabricating conflicting sets of personal rules to deem things you've arbitrarily decided not to like as too nerdy for you, a guy who plays videogames on the internet, is pretty dumb. It sounds like someone descibed Joss' stuff to you at some point in the past and you decided then and there to dislike it, and now you're just defending that preconception. Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is wonderful, and Winifred is the best Angel character.
  • Dan, I never understood the whole Buffy thing either.
  • Cool.

  • Hey Dan didn't burn all the bridges with the gameinformer fans,I agree with him. Buffy wasn't good, Doctor who wasn't that good. We both like Zelda and Mortal Kombat. GO DAN

  • I agree with Dan.  Buffy is pretty dumb.

  • Watching dan play games is very frustrating. he doesnt pay attention to SH*T. now i know how tim felt during the super replay of half-life lol.
  • Yeah Dan, Wrestling fans unite!

  • I've never really been into vampire stuff much. I will say, however, that Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog is a pretty good movie.
