Replay – God Hand

One of the downright goofiest games of the PlayStation 2 era was God Hand, a Capcom-published beat-em-up. While the game is rarely talked about, several of us at the office have some vague memories of insane attacks and a general wacky vibe. We decided to play it on this week's Replay to see how it holds up.

This episode features Andrew Reiner, Joe Juba, me, and everyone's favorite guest, Aram Jabbari (formerly Atlus PR, now with Sony).

  • Never heard of it. It should be interesting, and Aram's back! GI, when are you going to hire him?

EDIT: Super Replay the Roulette! Super Replay the Roulette!
  • lol I literally just got this game yesterday, very underrated. Anyone who has a PS2 should consider getting it
  • This game doesn't get enough credit for influencing the genre today. A wider variety of move upgrades for any game, which can get pretty crazy, as well as pretty ridiculous/hilarious. I think it was a little too outrageous and complicated for the mainstream, who likes to brag about how awesome they are at DMC a bit too often.

Bayonetta and Lollipop Chainsaw were able to break into public consciousness with a little strategy known as sex appeal. If those games didn't have half naked protagonists, being new IPs they probably would have been as popular as this game unfortunately.
  • Never heard of it but that La Bomba thing looks promising.
    Edit: God Hand looks amazing
  • ARAM. :D
Edit: OMG now I really wanna play this.
  • "Hit the werewolf in the crotch, Joe."

"I wanna' hit everbody in the crotch!"

  • I know some dudes that really get off from being hit in the nuts it's a bdsm thing.
  • Best replay in a while

  • Aram!!!

  • Just an FYI for the replay watchers. God Hand was directed by Shinji Mikami who was the director of the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4 and Dino Crisis. He more recently worked on Shadows of the Damned with Suda 51. This was when he was at Clover Studios which also made Viewtiful Joe and Okami and later turned into Platinum games which has made Vanquish, Bayonetta and Mad World. This game is available for purchase on PSN for $10 and after watching that replay I'd say it's safe to pick it up.

  • This game is criminally underrated. That's right, if you haven't played it, you WILL be arrested and thrown in the clink! :O
