The Story Of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt RED has been lauded for the studio's implementation of a mature and gripping storyline throughout The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Despite the new open-world structure for the third and final game in the trilogy, the writers behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are hoping to make the story in the new game the most satisfying yet.

Watch the interview below to hear the writers for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt explain where the story of the game begins and where Geralt's new perspective on life will bring him.

  • The second one was one of my favorite games last year and I'm really excited for this one!

  • I have extremely high hopes for The Witcher 3! Everything I had a complaint with seems to be addressed this go around. (mostly the combat and menu system) This will be a day 1 purchase for me and if its only available on next gen consoles (im not a pc guy) then I sure as hell will buy a next gen console for this game!
  • The Witcher games have to be my favorite new rpg series. I love the fact that its dark, gritty and the characters feel alot more "real". Political intrigue? check. Sweet atmosphere? check. (Somewhat, well for a fantasy game) Believable characters with their own agendas? checkedy check. Plus the fact they deal with something that is obvious, but hardly any other fantasy rpgs ever touch, the complicated relationship between humans and non-humans really interests me. I mean come on we as a species have a hard enough time getting along with people of other ethnic groups and languages...how would human-kind react to having to deal with long lived elves and insanely strong, head strong dwarves. CDproject red def gets my vote for best new dev in a long while.
  • Cant wait. Going to be amazing!!

  • From the ending (just a teaser no spoilers) of the last game it looks as if the new world will be set either during or after a new war.

  • Love The Witcher series. I hear Geralt's voice in my head as I read The Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear (better books than Game of Thrones, in my opinion). Can't wait for Witcher 3
  • I wonder how many years have actually passed.
  • I've got a question for all those of you who don't know the Witcher books (not even a little, those who had not heard about Geralt before Witcher 1 or 2)... Do you care about Yennefer? I mean, I know who Yennefer is, I know Geralt loved her, I know her, because I've read the Sapkowskis' saga. So I have motivation for looking for her. But I wonder how devs will motivate those who only know Yennefer from animated cut-scenes... Maybe we will get some retrospections or something?
  • Very pumped for this.

  • The overall quality of this game blew me away. My mind exploded when I realized I was playing a triple A quality game that had virtually no love despite being dramatically superior to countless better covered console games. That may have been a bit hyperbolic but my main point is this game really is one of the best franchises I ever had the pleasure of jumping into and yet I found it randomly at the bottom of a list of "under-appreciated games" which is weird because it was the only one i would consider worthy.
  • GAH, spoilers! I haven't finished 2 yet :(
  • Over rated series, lacks polish and horrid control over your character. Thats my experience with this game. Not interested at all in Witcher 3.
  • Is it an exclusive for a particular system?
  • Nice!

  • Still no issue in my mailbox...
  • Well, well, well.

  • Hmm I think I might actually get this one.

  • I love the Witcher 2, hopefully this game will rival and maybe even conquer Skyrim
  • If I haven't played the witcher, would the second be okay to start at? Also, I know there are books and stories of Geralt just from reading, reading those a good idea? I was debating just playing the third one coming out, but kind of seems like I would be doing it wrong.
  • I'm curious how they are gonna deal with the different choices you can make through Witcher 2 and how they impact Witcher 3, especially for console owners since the new systems probably won't be backwards compatible.
