Replay – Power Stone

While far from a traditional entry in the genre, 1999's Power Stone was one of the most enjoyable fighters on the Dreamcast. With tons of environmental interaction, wacky weapons, and colorful characters, it managed to put forward a vibe that somewhat resembles that of Smash Bros. We decided to boot up the Dreamcast to check it out fourteen years after its initial release.

Watch below to see Jeff Cork, Bryan Vore, Jeff Marchiafava, and myself duke it out to see who reigns supreme in this great fighter (spoiler: it's totally me).

  • This is one of those few games that makes me wish I had a Dreamcast. This should be a good Replay.
  • I would really like to see a Smash Bros. Game with this style-reminds me a bit of MadWorld, and KH3D, with the enviornmental interactions.

  • also try onimusha blade warriors. it's one of the lost party fighter titles that once stood besides powerstone and smash bros.
  • No wonder I thought that guy was a super saiyan as a kid...He even has something similar to a spirit bomb!

  • Awesome,great saturday treat

  • A remake of Power Stone needs to be made. That game looked crazy!
  • I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it!

  • Oh yeah that's right, back when we still had genres of video games, amazing things like this would pop up from time to time.
  • im playing it right now on mt dreamcast

  • Wow, Dan is really annoying. GI needs to get a pro gamer on Replay to destroy Dan in a fighting game like Mortal Kombat 2.

Also, that wangtang character is basically a super sayan Goku from Dragonball Z...
  • Ah man, a DC classic, one of my all time favorites. Seriously, this needs to come back. I miss being a member of the Wang-Tang Clan.
  • Circus Caper : The Best Game Ever Made
  • Power Stone still looks pretty fun.  Come to think of it I actually think I own the Crazy Circus game.  I recognize that cover art.

Also, judging by his reactions it seems as if JeffM isn't a big fan of clowns?

  • That's weird, I could have sworn that Power Stone had a 4-player mode. Still a great game regardless though.
  • Reviewers love this game but hate Anarchy Reigns.

    Makes no d*mn sense whatsoever.

I played this game for so many hours as a kid, Wang is so awesome and has the best finisher in the game. I wish there was a sequel...oh wait its called Anarchy Reigns developed by an old Capcom Studio called Platinum Games.
  • this game is seriously the reason I had a dreamcast(other than house of the dead and ready to rumble). If any game need's a remake its this one.
  • this was one of my fav game's on the dreamcast

  • I've never liked fighters, but this looks pretty fun. However, I have no idea what a Dreamcast is.
  • this needs an HD remake

  • Dan still sucks. No one else at GI has to act like an ass when he tries to prove himself against others. That is all.
