From Saliva Puzzles To Gears Of War: Adrian Chmielarz's First Game

by Ben Hanson on Feb 06, 2013 at 06:00 AM

Back in June of 2012 we brought you a full month of coverage on Gears of War: Judgment, the new game from Epic and People Can Fly. Since then a lot has changed. Several developers at Epic have left the studio and three of the leads at People Can Fly splintered off and formed a new studio called The Astronauts.

The Astronauts announced their first game today, it's called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (click here to see more) and it has players exploring a macabre world and puts a strong emphasis on immersive storytelling. Watch the video below (which was shot while he was working on Gears of War: Judgment) to hear Adrian talk about his early days working in the adventure game genre. His first game was called Mystery of the Statuette, and contained one especially quirky puzzle involving spit and electricity.

To hear more of Adrian's philosophy towards game design and his thoughts on game violence, click here to watch the first part of our interview back in June.
