Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch launches today. With plenty of name recognition behind it with Level-5 and Studio Ghibli at the helm, we wanted to give you a deeper look at the game.

In the video below, Andrew Reiner hosts and shares his love for Studio G and Level-5, Jeff Cork discovers the battle system for the first time, and I offer tips on how to succeed and insight into my review.

  • I wish the DS game was localized. :(
  • Looking forward to Ni No Kuni, I just loved Dark Cloud 1 & 2 and Rogue Galaxy! :D
  • I had higher hopes then just a 7.00 man that's low for a Anticipated JRPG
  • Man, this is probably one of the most beautiful and vibrant game I have ever seen. I'm intrigued by what I seen and will put this on the backlog to satisfy my JRPG hunger. I just can't help but find this generation lacking in the JRPG department on console. Best thing I seen was Demon's/ Dark Souls, if that counts.
  • Man this just oozes charm. I wish they did this with FLCL and continued the story. I gotta try this game one day, its like one of those ps1 rpg games I always wanted to play when I was a kid.

  • Man I wish I had a PS3 for this, I could use a good JRPG to sink my teeth into. Thats what I miss most about the PS2 era is JRPG's, Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest 8, and Final Fantasy X and XII were amazing.
  • Cool.

  • This game demands thought, preparedness and strategy... yes that means grinding, it also means tactics in regards to fighting your enemy like a good old turn based RPG, yet this one isn't turn based!! (As you can imagine that heightens the challenge and intensity) So now, if you are ready to use your noodle and don't mind a stiff challenge, welcome to the beautiful world of Ni No Kuni! The best thing to happen to JRPG's in a long while. The story is great and the characters are great (if you are mature enough to appreciate charm, wit and subtlety), the visuals will make your eyes bleed (this to me is what video games should look like and what I've been waiting for since the NES), the sound is fantastic (well battle music repeats, it's to be expected), voice acting is stellar and it blends together everything that made old school RPG's great into something modern without losing much in the process. The desire to get back to it once you've stopped playing is down right impossible to resist, it's simply fantastic how it pulls you into the world without you even realizing how much you are enjoying it. Understanding this is a JRPG, one that calls back to what JRPG's are all about in every sense of the word (thought, difficulty, exploration, complex battles, inventory/character management, etc), I personally would give the 15 hours I've played thus far a 9 even with my affinity for turn based systems. With the exception of one review, it would seem the industry agrees, so I'm just the more excited to get back into the world as I'm comfortable that 9 will hold to the end. Level 5 and Studio Ghibli, thank you for this game!
  • Please everyone just ignore this review. Take a look at Metacritic and looks at the scores this game got (the 7 from GI is by far the lowest score that it's received so far.). This game (I'm about 10 hours in) is just amazing!
  • Regardless of this getting a 7 I will happily go pick this up today after work. I can't pass up JRPG, Studio Ghibli, and Level 5! I really enjoyed the demo and it was absolutely gorgeous to behold, I really enjoyed the voice acting as well. I also know most other sites gave it raving reviews for the most part: 9's and a couple 8's. I don't put much into reviews anyway, if it looks good I buy and play it. If I don't like it, *** happens. I mean Fragile Dreams for the Wii is an amazing JRPG that has been totally overlooked by everybody, and I suggest if you enjoy the genre then go get it. It's not a straight forward RPG it's like a fallout, ghost, idk... it's just good lol.

  • I really want this game, probably more so than most other games that are part of my ever-growing backlog. I don't mind the game got a 7; not a bad score by any means, especially considering that this teamup was pretty experimental. The movie and Videogame industries are different beasts entirely, so the fact that an admirable game comes as a result is no small feat.
  • I'm ready for some adorableness. ^_^
  • This game reminds me of classic movies like "little Nemo" and other movies around the 90's or so :3

  • This looks really cool... But I'm scared of the difficulty. I'm awful at JRPGs, period. I had to lower the difficulty in Final Fantasy XIII-2 just to advance.
  • i wanna play this game!

  • This game looks freakin incredible, cant wait to get my hands on it, thanks for the test chamber guys, wish it was a little longer though.

  • I just rented this game on Gamefly yesterday, so I should be receiving it soon.  After watching this episode of Test Chamber, I can't wait.

  • As soon as I get some extra cash I'm definitely picking up this game.  I'm no stranger to level grinding and tough RPG's so bring it on Ni No Kuni!
