Animating The Incredible Hulk In Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Lego designed their version of the the Incredible Hulk when creating the sets for their Lego Marvel Super Heroes toy line, but now the development team at Traveller's Tales has to animate him. As the first of Lego's "big figs," the Hulk was a satisfying challenge for Paul Munro and the the rest of the animation team.

Watch the video feature below to learn how the team studied and animated the characters of Iron Man and the Hulk, and see a glimpse at early gameplay footage of the next Lego game.

  • This game sucks.... Just kidding. I am excited to play this. Playing Lego LOTR now, and loving it.
  • Cannot. Wait. For. This.

  • This is going to be an Awesome game.

  • So excited for this game! I might pee myself

  • I've missed so many lego games. I really need to catch up.

  • If you go back to the Lego Batman 2 Test Chamber, Reiner says that this game would never happen.

  • Ugh, I hate it when they make their videos like this. I can't watch them. *sigh* I'll see if they have one on Youtube.
  • I can't wait! I just need to finish Lego LotR with my brother.

  • Looking great.

  • HUUUULLK SMAAAAASH. I really want to see how they handle destructible environments with him.
  • looks good, but what about lego city undercover or whatever it's called? theres no more coverage on that

  • I can't wait for this game. Pre-ordering as soon as it's available!

  • Just to clarify, does anyone know if they have confirmed voices for Lego Marvel? They hadn't mentioned it in the cover story.
  • Mind-bogglingly good technology behind this. It give me hope for this Lego romp. I really want to know what the voice-cast is gonna be like, if any. Ideally, there shouldn't be any. I enjoy the silent mime-like humor the best.

  • Okay, music was far better in this one! I gotta say though... I don't like how they're making the Hulk shiny.

Edit: Also, you guys said there would be a bit of Iron Man as well -- but all they showed were in-game with all the other characters and a dev reference sheet. While as someone who's worked on a project like this and knows that some studio writer worked on the sheet... the fact is, it's not that stunning a thing to see. I only think I would have advertised the Iron Man bit for if you expected lots of game devs to be reading this.
  • Puny god...
  • woah lego hulk! nice!

  • Can't wait to play as spider-man!

  • LEGO Superman best be on the slate for later this year. Or LEGO Justice League. LEGO Batman 2 just wasn't enough for me. Though that game did show that TT Games seems to have had enough with pumping out interchangeable LEGO games. There was a lot of variation to the formula in that game; I hear LEGO LoTR did some unique stuff too. And LEGO City Undercover also seems to be doing it's own thing. They really seem to have stepped up their game. So hearing that the characters in LEGO Avengers are being animated individually by different people to give them different personalities doesn't surprise me. They've been doing much better with the LEGO games lately. And this will likely be super fun! Superman is just better, that's all :) Btw, Warner Bros. - if you're listening, WHEN you guys get around to LEGO Superman (let's face it; more DC stuff is coming), how about getting Jon Hamm to do the voice for Supes'? The guy'd be perfect; you all know it.
  • Ugh...people still play lego games!? How are these still making money!!??!?
