Reader Games Of The Year 2012

Last year will go down as one of the better years in video games, with titles like Halo 4, Far Cry 3, and The Walking Dead coming out among many others. But before we turn the page on 2012, here's a look at the games that readers voted as their favorites of the year.

Our Reader Games of the Year poll garnered 56,415 respondents, with the two stipulations being people could vote multiple times, and that they didn't have to vote on every category.

Here are the list of winners in each category, but you can also check out the full survey below.

  • I don't know. Voting multiple times kind of throws these results out the window for me. I don't see the point, I'm not even gonna read through the article, sorry.

  • I am appalled.

  • I like this list better than the Game Informer list. Much better.

  • Get the stain of Assassin's Creed 3 off this *** list. Disgusting.

Far Cry 3 gets no love? What the hell?

  • Nice picks a,

  • A little disappointed with my peers

  • I don't get how they can give ME 3 the RPG of the year award, since it's NOT AN RPG! Yes, it has RPG elements, but it's a shooter at heart. Is Far Cry 3 an RPG? No! Frankly, Borderlands 2 has way better RPG elements, why didn't it get RPG of the year?
  • Finally, AC3 wins an award for something!

  • My GOTY is definitely Mass Effect 3, still haven't gotten to the ending but its been epic so far
  • Halo 4 doesn't deserve game of the year
  • Really guys, I know this list may not be perfect, but it's an opinion and therefore we should not be saying how stupid/ridiculous/"violently stupid" it is. I disagree with some of it, sure, but man everyone should probably chill. Haha.

  • I don't think halo 4 was all that great I guess I just liked it better when I didn't have to go to the left side click a button then go to the right side and click a button after going down corridors.

  • Wow. Mario Party Beat Xenoblade. Wow.

  • You can't really take this seriously. Even though Game B may be 100 times better than Game A, Game A has hundreds of thousands more players who never gave Game B a chance.

  • '"Handheld Exclusive Assassin's Creed III: Liberation"

apparently no one who actually plays handheld games voted

  • I don't understand why NFS keeps winning racing game of the year? Forza Horizon is a million times better then NFS.
  • Am I the only one wondering why Rayman Origins was even an option? That game came out last year and is nothing more than a port.
  • Is this a joke? People seriously voted that very mediocre AC game for the Vita better than the absolutely amazing Virtue's Last Reward? And Mario Party 9 over Xenoblade? How the hell did that piece of crap even get on this list?

  • Mass Effect 3 an RPG? ahahahahahahahahaha

  • I really like Halo 4 but I'm sorry, its not a game of the year. Top 10? Maybe. But #1? Heck no! It's a great game but not the top of the year, in my opinion.
