The lights are on
Last year will go down as one of the better years in video games, with titles like Halo 4, Far Cry 3, and The Walking Dead coming out among many others. But before we turn the page on 2012, here's a look at the games that readers voted as their favorites of the year.
Our Reader Games of the Year poll garnered 56,415 respondents, with the two stipulations being people could vote multiple times, and that they didn't have to vote on every category.
Here are the list of winners in each category, but you can also check out the full survey below.

Why is there no adventure games category?
Fez was beaten by Quantum Conundrum. I feel like there is a force similar to gravity, yet much stronger, that is pressing down on me right now. My GOTY couldn't even beat a random mediocre contender in its own category.
Halo4 for GOTY and Soulcalibur V for fighter? Really?
How did Mario Party...
This is the first time I've pretty much liked all the games on the list, but was still sad to see they were there. There was really a lot of great stuff this year.
When will dishonored come to xbox live
jesus christ you guys, i am disappoint.
Most of my choices, nice :D
The readers picked SCV over TTT2. Really guys?
Good for Master Chief! Also glad that AC III got some more respect too. Weird that Assassin's Creed III: Liberation won anything at all. . .
Also, where is fighting game of the year? I feel like I'm the only person in the GI universe who plays fighting games competitively sometimes.
Wow this list is kinda embarrassing...
Halo 4?! Really?!
Far Cry 3 should have got best shooter or something
