Replay Holiday Special

'Tis the season for crappy holiday gaming. Scattered within the thousands of games in Game Informer's vault, we found two that celebrate the holiday season. Now that Wii U is on store shelves, we can officially dive into Wii's library for Replay episodes. Outside of Tim breaking the rules of the spacetime continuum with his rogue Super Smash Bros. Brawl Replay episode, our first sanctioned Wii game is Santa Claus is Comin' to Town! Our Roulette is equally as season-appropriate. Enjoy the episode, folks! And happy holidays!

Be sure to visit the Replay hub to watch previous episode.

  • Hilarious, as expected. Thanks guys!

  • Rock on, Dan! So glad you were there to defend this movie.

Someone there is a hateful ***. And I can't believe Jeff thought this was fake, yet claims to have seen the other Rankin-Bass Christmas classics. Baffling. You guys are... how old are you guys? They gave all of these specials throughout December on MULTIPLE channels. How can you not be familiar with Santa Claus is Coming to Town? It is an interesting idea, making Santa out to be a Robin Hood-type figure. And they do explain all the nonsense (let's admit it) to the whole myth - like why can his Reindeer fly? It's perfectly good entertainment, especially for children. I also kind of fail to see how bad the game is - it actually looks pretty competent by budget Wii game standards. It's simple, but the art direction is true to the old movie, it's colorful... I also failed to see the lack of animation on the animals that you guys were cracking up about. The animation seems fine to me. That game is no disaster; it's just dumb and boring. Picking on dumb, boring games isn't fun. I mean, people who made them didn't want to, but it's not like they embarrassed themselves with what they put out. It's not like it's Big Rigs we're talking about.

It was funny that Dan laughed at the orphan kids, and promptly forgot that he could (and should) be handing out toys. As Santa Claus. :) I'm glad the Roulette was what it was though, because THAT game is awful. And awful games make for good replays:) But man, how do you guys not know about Prince of Persia 3D either (except Ben)? You guys are GAME JOURNALISTS. Be better. Stop being surprised by everything that wasn't mainstream. I feel like, we'll get to 2014 and the only games you'll remember from this generation are complete mainstream garbage; you're gonna think it was all Dead Space, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty, and just blank on literally everything else.

Oh btw, Grinch was a PSOne game. You were playing the Dreamcast port, which is why it looks especially terrible for a Dreamcast game.

Still, thanks for the bonus holiday episode. Y'all maybe should spend some less time in the office though, and more time watching tv this time of year.
  • That Grinch game totally reminded me of a game I used to play a lot back when I was a wee lad, Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters and a little wikipediaing reveals it was the same developer as this Grinch game. Though I love that Bugs Bunny game for nostalgic reasons I think if I went back and played it now it would probably be still quite fun as the Bugs Bunny and Taz gameplay mechanics were quite inventive and true to their characters; that game should totally be a replay consideration. It also came out after this so they'd probably gotten better with their developing.
  • Happy Holidays? Just say merry Christmas, you cowards.
  • I'm so glad that Wii games are now Replay material.  Just think of all the "great" games GI can use now!

Both games were terrible, but The Grinch looked particularly atrocious.  The character model was hideous!

  • A Wii game Super Replay!!!!

  • My favorite part is at the beginning of the level with the kids, when the rest of the guys are talking Dan is just running past crying children and paying them no mind, never once thinking of throwing toys at them. Dan's the best, even if he thinks Borderlands 2 is Game of the Year and Far Cry 3 doesn't make his top ten.

  • Great Replay, I'm looking forward a Future Super Wii-play

  • Did I hear them mention a new Reiner and Phil?

  • This was a fun Replay to watch! Really enjoyed the game selection for both games. Funny commentary. Merry Christmas Gameinformer!

  • I don't know why, but the Grinch in that second game reminds me of Dagoth Ur, the last boss in Morrowind...

  • Neither one of those looked particularly playable.  Love the holiday spirit: Hitler, suicide and A2M.
