The lights are on
A couple months ago we dove into DayZ on an episode of Test Chamber. The Arma II mod allows players to forage for food, water, guns, and other supplies while avoiding zombies and homicidal survivors. The War Z is an entirely separate PC game being developed and published by Hammerpoint Interactive which takes DayZ's formula, polishes it up, and adds in microtransactions. We're here to give you a look into the bleak world of The War Z.
Join Andrew Reiner, Adam Biessener, and myself as we endure the sad realities of a zombie apocalypse. Hidden gunmen take potshots, we brush up on our zombie-killing skills, and explore some landmarks in the Colorado mountainside.
You can buy your way into the alpha build here. Hammperpoint says the game should be content complete by the end of the year.
For more episodes, check out our Test Chamber hub.
Email the author Tim Turi, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
I may just hold out until "Class2" and eventually "Class4".
Until then, I'll watch others play War or Day on Youtube.
meh, day z good.
I dunno but that was fun to watch.
As a former player, I have to warn you, this isn't actually a game, it's a Mod, from Arktos Entertainments "War Inc." game. The developer (Hammerpoint) and "game" (The War Z) have only existed for the past 6 months. The "game" is a scam, and a rather lousy one at that. It's fun for the first half hour, but quickly loses it's appeal after that.
I guess I'll wait for DayZ stand alone version, WarZ final version and then compare these both.
Sad to hear shady things are going on with this game, it looks really interesting.
i dont meen to be a pest.. but i still get a bunch of lags, even on Medium settings, this video have stalled atleast 8-10 times half way though it,and again its only this site that i have this problem with streaming (connection 20mb) what gives? am i the only one haveing problems?
And now a question for the staff, how long before this video goes up on your youtube hub? since there is no point in it for me,watching this on your site and every episode runs smoothly on youtube.
All the studio controversy aside, this really does not look all that appealing. It doesn't seem to offer up anything that sets in apart from DayZ, apart from the in-game store that, in my opinion, completely removes the 'survivor' aspect of the game and seems to encourage a 'shoot on sight' player mentality.
Also, the zombie AI seems very primitive. Most of them looked as though they were just standing in place until triggered by the player.
I guess you could argue that its only an early build, but War Z had supposedly started it's development two years ago.
And Tim fighting off the zombie with his flashlight had me in stitches laughing, which I'm sure was not the intended emotional reaction to that encounter!
it would be cool if you could open doors and there were huge places like malls and such.
Yeah... I'll just wait for the Day Z standalone. A lack of original ideas, improvements to the existing formula, and customer support seem to paint War Z as something to avoid.
Let us all face it together. Both DayZ and WarZ are rampant with hackers. Neither are even close to being finished. We need a survival game set in Jurassic Park created by a well to do company.
1. YOU DO HAVE STAMINA IN DAYZ. Hit double tap when you run. Oh look, you run faster. Now wait. Oh look, now you are jogging.
2. I understand that War Z "looks" better than DayZ, but the amount of trees(leaves) and foliage on the ground in DayZ is easily twice as much than War Z. In this game you are either out in the open or in a building. In DayZ you are either in the forest under the cover of trees, on a farm, in a grassy area, or in a urban/suburban area.
3. You got that right on the "pumping real money into the game" idea.
4. "What a jerk!" Are we shocked by this?
Blah. You guys literally played DayZ for about, what, less then a day? You guys really didn't try to look into that.
I've been hearing that this game has got many many problems. mostly about PvP...still looks interesting though
I bought this game... I regret every penny of it. The players are extremely hostile almost 99% of the time, so many glitches and bugs, the hacker situation is out of hand, and the developers will not let me refund. Do not buy... save... yourselves...
