Where I'd Like To See 343 Studios Take The Halo Brand

by Ben Reeves on Nov 06, 2012 at 12:00 PM

Earlier today, Halo 4's executive producer Kiki Wolfkill talked about how she thought Microsoft could take the Halo franchise into genres outside of first-person shooters. Here are my thoughts on that.

I love the Halo games, but personally I'd love to see a real time strategy game based on the Halo franchise. It would be even better if it wasn't a PC centric title, but an RTS designed with consoles in mind so you could easily play it with a controller. Maybe it could even feature a co-op campaign that could be played with a friend online. I would also love to know more about the Halo universe, so it would be cool if this game was a prequel to the series, maybe set roughly 20 years before the events of the original Halo. And since I love Nolan North, it would be great to see him in one of the game's major roles.

Here's a quick mockup of what the game's case could look like:

After this game, it would be great if Microsoft took the Halo franchise into other media. Wouldn't it be cool to see Halo comics, books, or live action web series? Eric Nylund is a great sci-fi writer whose written novels like Signal to Noise and A Signal Shattered, and I think he'd be a great choice to write a Halo novel.

I know this is a bit of a pipe dream, but I love Halo, and I'd love to see it really take off. What about you? What other kinds of Halo projects would you like to see in the future?
