Test Chamber – Doom 3 BFG Edition

The original Doom 3 hit PCs back in 2004. The atmospheric FPS greeted gamers with visceral gunplay and gorgeous visuals for the time. Eight years later, the game has received a high-definition overhaul that includes the expansion, and lost mission, and the original two Doom titles.

Join me and Andrew Reiner as we travel back to Mars and blast a bunch of hellspawn directly in the face.

  • pickin mine up soon

  • Might need to get this...

  • YES!

EDIT: We want a Doom 3 Super Replay! Also, did anyone see the 007 Legends Test Chamber? It was up for a few minutes.
  • I played Doom 3 once. Too dark. Didn't know what I was doing.
  • If only they did this with the movie. Doom, the movie: not suck edition.
  • I heard the PS3 version comes with 4 player splitscreen and smooth 60fps throughout, so I'm considering that version over the PC version.

  • PC AND the Xbox.  I had a blast with this game.  Scary as hell.  I completely forgot that it was coming out.

  • Aw man, I really wanted to watch this vid until I saw that you started with the Lost Mission, which I don't want spoiled so I bailed. Still, I'm glad to see you guys devoting some kind of coverage to this awesome re-release, because so far nobody else is. I just started it myself a few hours ago, and I'm having a great time. I last played it on the Xbox. Absolutely loving the shoulder mounted flashlight.
  • I'm getting this just to Play Doom I and II... love those games!

  • Some of the lamest complaints in the history of gaming involve Doom 3. People bitched and moaned about the flashlight not being attached to the pistol. derp. People also complained about the game being "too dark". Switching between the flashlight and gun created so much damn tension! For a brief moment when you would use the flashlight and spot a demon, you were completely vulnerable. It became a fight or flight experience. That is completely lost with the flashlight attached to the pistol. /endrant
  • I'm actually more interested in playing this than I thought. I never finished the game and it'd be nice to have new things, and trophies, along the way. And id has said they're working on Doom 4 and have even released concept art.
  • I would play this, Doom was a little before my time, also I thought Id was working on both Doom 4 and Rage 2? I don't remember where I heard it but I did hear something along those lines. I loved Rage, it was a pretty solid FPS and WINGSTICKS!
  • Damn...looks like I'm getting this now.

  • This game did NOT age well in my book and the Lost Mission is only about an hour long and nothing really not worthy happens in it either.

  • I'd like to see what the multiplayer looks like. I don't think I have ever bought a FPS for just a single-player experience.

  • well...for how "annoying" the lighting was. i think they really removed a great mechanic from this game with the auto flashlight. it has made the gameplay too streamlined, which is waaaay more like doom and i understand why doom fans would be happy, but for me i feel like im getting a handicap now. either way this is a GFD for a BFG, technically three.

also, Reiner (or Tim) why is it that the test chambers are so friggin short? i dont get why you even bother. reiner and phil's seemed so much longer, (sorry to bring it up)

  • Doom 3 is my favorite straight up shooter. It's also my favorite survival/horror.

  • So I wasnt going to buy this but now that I see it and being a doom fan

  • I actually like switching back and forth between my flashlight and weapons. I'll stick with my old copy. lol.

  • What happened to Test Chamber: 007 Legends? It was up a second ago, and now its gone.
